    Chicken tractor vs free range

I like free ranging for sure but have lost birds to predators or the occassional stray dog so often that I now use two midsized tractors for my laying hens that I actually move everycouple of days or at the end of each day. They are about 10 feet by 4 feet and easy to just lift up on one end and...

chicks wont climb ramp to house?

Sometimes putting them inside coop at night and then helping them out in the morning can help them figure it out. But if you don't have that much time for the most part they will figure it out overtime. Good luck.

    Whole flock dead!

I have felt your pain and anger. I lost a whole flock to a pack of stray dogs / coyotes (could see the tracks in the mud) that dug under the fence during a very wet time of year. They left most of my dead chickens laying all around and only took a couple. It seems very strange to lose 50 all at...

New Hovabator worth every penny! Pics

After several bad hatches with my LG's I splurged and bought the Havobator Genisis Modle # 1588. It has the a preset automated thermostat and fan. Also has more built water troughs for better humidity control and my hatch has gone great. The proof is in these pictures. These chicks are from...

LG incubator...who makes it and how do we contact them?

I am with you for sure. I have had great hatches and really really bad ones and do everything the same way each time. No consistency!!!! Just bought a new Hovabator and it works GREAT!!! If LG wants to stay in the market they need to listen to and respond to complaints so they can build a better...

I agree no question is stupid. I can see why the Buff thing could be a little confusing. Around here I hear people referring to Buff Orpington's as (Yellow Buff's) That would lead one to think Buff might be it's own breed. I am convinced people make up their own names for all kinds of things.

    Kids & the Coop

My helpers are now inspecting the small coop we built for their MeMa! When I turned my back my two year old daughter climbed right up the chicken ramp and into the coop. My son with the wood in hand is figureing out how to trap her in. We had a great time together working on this coop!

Bobwhite chicks hatching how long can you leave them in the bator

I knowwith chickens its ok to leave them until you think everything has hatched 24 to 36 hours. Is it the same for quail? Don't want kill the ones that have hatched but don't want to shrink wrap the others. Advice please!
