    Shriveled comb, shivering.

For a few weeks now my Jap BTB Cock's comb has been looking sad. I went out tonight to see his comb very shriveled and purple. His is also rather cold and shivering. His feet are very pale...not close to the beautiful yellow they used to be/are supposed to be. What do I do? I have no clue what...

    Japanese Bantam Thread!

Quote: he is definitely not black tailed buff. he could be a black tailed white mixed with black tailed buff but he does not look like a pure btb. BTB's roo's are more of a golden color.

    Is this from stress?

No warts or bumps. He is in an enclosed coop so he does not have access to the outside. he has windows and a fan. The weather is supposed to be alot cooler for the next couple of days. I will let him go and see what happens. Thanks

    Is this from stress?

My Little Japaneses Bantam Rooster had a beautiful bright red comb about a week ago. I've noticed his personality has one from lively and cocky to boring and slow in the past few days. Now this morning his comb is all droopy and discolored. The picture below actually makes it look better than...

Will my German Shepard ever get use to my chickens?

Slowly introduce him to a bird. First start with just holding on to the bird and let him sniff. If he tries to bite, tell him no. Then put them in a pen in the yard and let him watch them. Even hold him on a leash and let the chicken walk around him. The more he gets used to having them around...

    baby Chicks have mites :(

I just dusted the peeps with sevin. with rubber gloves I got some on my finger while my dad held the peep and put some under each wing. I did the same for the mom and their two other coop-mates. I also extremely lightly dusted "here and there" in the coop. I am praying it does not harm my...

    baby Chicks have mites :(

hmmm ok. The only time I have ever checked the birds is during the day. So I have seen white/light light brown/tan colored bugs scurrying along their vent area. I just bought 5% Sevin and will dust them asap.

    baby Chicks have mites :(

To be quite honest i dont know what they are. I have been spraying with the adams and that has deterred them from the big birds but they are on the peeps. Before the babies even hatched i cleaned out the woodchips from the nest area, sprayed thr floor with the adams and covered it with fresh...

    baby Chicks have mites :(

Thank you so much. I planned on using Sevin on the older birds but I was nervous about using it on the 2 day old peeps. Which leads me to my next question... When I dust them will the mites die... or linger and possibly try to move on to my second coop? Even worse, Am I at risk to catch these...

    baby Chicks have mites :(

Hello, I have been battling mites on my three Japanese bantams for about 2 weeks now. I have been spraying them with Adams Plus spray stuff for dogs which I was told to use by a fellow 4-H'er. It has not worked. One of the hens has recently hatched out 5 beautiful peeps and they have the mites...

2 Year Old Rhode Island Red HEN acting/physically changing into Roo.!?

My now 2 year old Rhode Island Red has begun to act like a Rooster. Sounds crazy right?! Well, within the past 2 weeks or so i've noticed her beginning to attack me when going in the coop to collect eggs(spuring, pecking, etc.). I just figured she was being a hostile mother over her eggs. Until...

    Synthetic Grass...Safe?

I will be recieving a breeding trio of Japanese Bantams in about a week and I am trying to figure out different ways to create their run so that their wing tips and other feathers do not get dirty. I was thinking about a syntheitc grass which will be easy to hose down and clean, and keep the mud...

SEVERE feather Pecking. What do I do?

I've recently removed my Silver Gray Dorking from the flock of 9 hens and 2 other roosters. The hens(not the rooster) viciously attacked Alvins tail to the point where he had no pin feathers and exposed flesh. I was mortified by what his bottom looked like. Luckily it did not effect him using...
