They are from the same batch. When we went to Tractor Supply, we got them all together and haven't added any new ones.

    What should we do???

We have 1 little chick who runs up to the others and pulls out their feathers randomly and is really rough. We thought it was because they are forming a pecking order but we don't know because we are beginners. Did yours ever do this as chicks? What should we do? Why are they doing it?

    What's wrong with this chick's legs/hips?!

I have heard of their feet being pointed outwards but I have never seen them crossed. I will do some research and let you know what I find out. I am curious to know why this happened!

    Pasty Butt issue

They will be 2 weeks old on Monday. Directly under the heat lamp is 90 degrees but around the entire container IDK. We have a few cold spells every once in a while and it gets as low as 40 degrees sometimes.

    Pasty Butt issue

4/12/2020 So today, almost all of our chicks got a pasty butt. We used coconut oil, warm water, and a washcloth to clean it off but I heard people have different techniques so what do you do when your birds get a pasty butt? What should we try to get rid of it because I am afraid we might lose...

    Raising My First Chicks

Okay Thank you! So we actually built a chicken tractor for them so that is what we are going to put them in once they grow up. I have heard a lot about the pasty butt so what are good ways to clean it because I know not to try to pull it off. Thanks for all the tips!

    Chicken Breed Focus - Cochin

They must be famous for their feathers on their legs because I always thought there was something wrong with them until someone told me that's how all of them are.

I am so sorry for all those chicks you lost! You taught me a lot in this small article of what to expect, what to do, and what not to do when getting chicks. We got 11 of our chicks from Tractor Supply also but we asked for 10 so I have a feeling the 11th will be a rooster lol! We really didn't...

4/9/2020 Chicks love the heat lamp as I can see. They cuddle up together and sit right under the heat lamp while one chick does laps around the bin like she is in a marathon going top speed with nothing in her way lol, except for that one glass jar of water. That's gonna hurt later!
