(Chicken thoughts)
06-22-2008
Have you ever thought about what is going on in those cute little heads (testa) as they bok, scratch, poop and look at you with a cock-eyed (no pun intended) tilt of the head? Surely they are thinking thoughts, right? Something like:

Buone Uova
Good Eggs
All things old are new again (tutte le cose vecchie sono ancora nuove).
We had all manner of farm animals when I was growing up; cows, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, a pig, cats, dogs, even a donkey. Buone Uova is the name I came up with for my Dad's 2nd round of chicken...
The show was great! Kind of damp and chilly but tons of beautiful birds...The Buone Uova clan met lots of great people and enjoyed seeing all the birds, especially the RIRs and Jersey Giants.
Great Job Sandlapper gang!

Take care and hang in there

This is a great thread, wish I'd have found it sooner.

I'm just keeping them in fresh water and checking them often as they are too young to...
Sorry to hear about your conflicts between beloved Dog and Chicks.
We've got 6 RIR chicks (about 7 wks old) in the Casa di Pollo (actually a tractor that is currently living on the patio). A few months ago we were adopted by a black lab mix (about 7 months old) that seems to be very docile...
