The worst part of the whole thing is that one of those chickens made a fool of me. My daughter came in carrying an egg, saying look dad, this egg is soft.
I told her to just wait a minute and it would get hard.
Imma get that bird!:D
I appear to have 1 bird that's laying a shell-less egg.
Only the outter membrane seems to be holding it together.
Unfortunately I have neither the time nor the energy to sit all day and find out who the culprit is.
I'm wonder if I could grab a random bird and re-insert the egg to get it to...
I have an Americana, she's well over two years old, and hasn't laid an egg in over a year.
She's not eating well, and is almost just feathers and bones.
I'm wondering if a nice hot bowl of chicken soup might bring her back around?
I have a a dozen BO's.
They have created three nests on the floor, away from their boxes.
The ladies want those eggs left alone, and they're more that happy to let you know about it.
When the count got to about 12 in each nest I figgered they'd get to work and start sitting.
The count is up...
...my head.
I made it through the front doors, and it then hit me why the woman I had earlier seen exiting with a similar pressure cooker had such a **** eating grin on her face.
Free! I was free at last, although I could feel I was still being watched as I placed myself and the stupid pot...
I don't recall if I mentioned it, but you can put about a quarter of a bottle of everclear into their water to keep it from freezing.
It'll cost a little more each month, but your chickens will think you're a God.
