I have a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and we named her Miss Bossy! Do not disturb her in the laying box, she gets very loud and irritated...and she lets everyone know when she lays an egg.

    How much is too much?

I have 6 laying hens of which 4 are actually laying. Two late bloomers. I was checking my receipts for Chicken Feed (Laying Pellets) and I'm buying 25 lbs. a month and they are getting the mixed grain as only as a treat to get them back in the run...am I over feeding or is this about right? They...

    Expanding Chicken Feed.

**That's good to know! My birds have recently been gradually changing over to Layer Pellets and they HATE them! I think I will go back to the grower! Thanks for your post.

I researched it and found many said they want to be picked up So, I make sure to pet her and show her special attention. I just...

Thank you! Yes, I spend a lot of time in the yard. I let the girls out while I work. I can't leave them out by themselves because I live in a remote area with Owls, Chicken Hawks and fox. They love going under the pool deck, Im sure because its cooler there.

    I started fermenting!!!!!

I have a question, what do you put the fermented food in to feed the chickens? Possibly a flat pan? i have a hanging feeder for the chick grower and I know that will not work...I'm thinking of trying this method.

    New Coop

I had to upgrade to a bigger coop for my 6 girls. My Tractor Supply coop that I loved was just too little for all of them. I had this one built and delivered. Still working on the outside but it's hot and hitting the high 90's here. I have been freezing ice in solo cups and putting this in...
