Okay here is a picture of my roo
and here is a picture of my hen and roo together
I definitely think they are the Columbian Wyandottes
Which makes me still Brahma-less.
I don't mind really...but I would love some Brahmas.
I can already tell you that the rooster that we got especially has what I think is called a rose comb. It is wide and almost squished on his face. lol I thought it looked odd when we got him today.
I can post some pictures in the morning. We just got them this afternoon.
From the pictures I've looked at online...they don't look like Delawares to me.
I'll have them up first thing in the morning after I go check for eggs.
I think you're right. I think we have Columbian Wyandottes. I don't think that the man that is selling them even knows really. Day before yesterday we had an argument up and down that Brahmas only came in Bantam. I tried to explain to him that there were standard breeds and he disagreed with me...
There is a man here locally that is selling chickens and he picked up a couple that were sold to him a light brahmas yesterday. Knowing that I was looking for some, he let me bring them home today and pay him tomorrow...but there is only one problem my husband and I noticed....they don't have...
I have been there once with a friend. I thought I had always heard that you had to be careful buying at trade shows because the chickens that you find are always the culls? Maybe I'm wrong, it's just what I heard.
I know there is one man down there they call "Cowboy" that I know sells sickly...
I am looking for hens that are just now laying age or that are around one year of age. I would prefer to have Easter Eggers, Wyndotte's, Brahma's, Maran's, or Buff Orpington's in any combination. I need around 8-10 hens and one rooster of the above breeds. Doesn't matter which to me.
I am...
This isn't a sob story and I'm not asking anyone for money but our asphalt maintenance business took a nose dive as the economy did at the end of last year. We will likely lose our home in the next three weeks once the courts release it from the stay. This is the only thing keeping our lights on...
If you go to feathersite.com it really doesn't look like any Americaunas I've ever seen pictures of...and Americaunas usually have dark markings around the eyes...BUT it does look like a Light Brahma chick. If that is the case I am SO jealous! I am trying to get my hands on some Light Brahma...
Several of them look like Americaunas or Easter Eggers. But I know there is another breed that looks similar when they are small like that.
The silver looking ones, I saw another post with babies similar to that the other day. If I find it I will post it.
You could go to www.feathersite.com...
...enjoyment.
look how well they are feathering!!
Look at the crazy woman with the camera....
Oh wait let me show you my good side
Whoo hoo LETTUCE!!!
Bet I can get it out of his hand!!!
My lettuce!!! No mine!!! Move!! No Me!!!
Almost gone!
*I* got it! Oh...sorry..wrong baby
I am working on one now I was just making sure that I was not wasting my time. I will have something together by mid week next week and I will let you guys know.
I seem to be on to something.
I have developed a chick starter with no wheat, corn, or soy. My chicks are developing beautifully and are eating everything I give them. Before I start trying to market this to fellow chick owners, I would like to know if I can stir up any interest in it.
This...
Well I don't have a bigger brooder right now...my friend that raises chickens told me this would be sufficient for a couple of weeks until we could build something bigger. But apparently this particular chick doesn't think it's enough.
I hate to speak too soon, but a night in jail seems to...
Everything has pretty much been going splendidly for the last 36 hours or so...yes we had that one casualty but everything since has been fairly calm.
That is until several hours ago when I noticed chick after chick jumping out of the way or chirping out more loudly than the others.
I have a...
I was just changing out my chicks paper towels and cleaning their water feeder. Are they supposed to have feathers already?? Several of my BR, my BO's, and my EE's have feathers! Is this unusual or is that chick starter I invented that good?
Oh I forgot to mention that they are roughly 36...
Does anyone have any?? Or know where I can get some. I called X-treme Game and Poultry but haven't heard back from them to see if they have any more hatching soon. I would like to raise them with the three day olds I have so the sooner I can get my hands on some the better.
Thanks!
Oh I'm so sorry
Did you have them insured?? I would be livid if it were me.
About how I felt when my 2 year old tore off all of the leaves to my baby Pink Ice tomato plant yesterday that came in with several others I ordered and with shipping were all around $55.
But yours is worse.
You...
