Thank you for the replies, that is what I was starting to think, but like I said, I haven't even heard one of the silkies crowing. We've also got some Barred Rocks, two of which are cockerels, and 16 are pullets. They are all still seeming to get along fine, but I think I might separate the...
Neither have crowed or laid an egg yet, so am wondering if anyone can help out. Here are some photos of the two of them that I took today in no particular order:
She was vaccinated against maerks disease, and there has been no moldy feed, we go through a bag about every 2 weeks. Sorry, I meant to write pullet, but guess I was thinking ahead of myself and put hen, lol. No signs of maggots or anything. We are having to clean poop off of her, though, but...
Hey all, I went out of town for 12 days, and my mom was taking care of my chickens. On Friday, all of the sudden, I guess one of my pullets was just laying there. On Sunday, my mom separated her from the rest because they were relentlessly picking on her. I got home this evening, and went to...

I think I see white earlobes..my roo has red ears...
hmmm...didn't even notice, til it was pointed out, wow, but other than that, they really do look very similar! My bad, maybe yours is a mix of some sort, or the OEG people are saying, that's what I was hoping mine was, my husband...
he looks like the one we have that we believe is a Silver Leghorn, we got ours as a free mystery chick from McMurray, and have been looking through their book and site, and its the one I think ours is, but here's a photo from Friday, he's 8 weeks old:
we show our American Pit Bull Terriers in ADBA conformation. It is so much fun, I love it. We're hoping to champion out one of our dogs this year, hopefully both, lol. We don't make it to many shows, though, because, unfortunately there aren't many in the midwest, most are in the south and...
Thanks! Yes, there are a lot of BR, lol, and they really enjoy being outside now! Hopefully I'll get a few other breeds to add eventually, and have more variety
When your dog has fleas, in addition to treating the dog, you must also treat your yard, house, and possibly car, if he's been in it. Anywhere the dog has been or goes needs to be treated, or else, you may kill the fleas on the dog, but then the dog will just get them again from the...
First, here is just one quick face photo of my 3 silkies:

and here is my mystery chick, I was asking about it a few weeks ago, I'm pretty sure it's a roo and a silver leghorn. He's definitely not as social or friendly with people as my silkies or barred rocks. He's currently about...
I'd also say Pat is a roo. With barred rocks, roos are typically lighter in color, as Pat is, and also look at the comb, compared to that of your others.
The AAP recommends breastfeeding for a MINIMUM of 12 months, the WHO recommends a MINIMUM of 18 months. I go by their recommendations, not those of self righteous jerks. My son is 11 months old, and he still nurses. It's good for him. I actually had a lady tell me at the playgroup we go to...
Well, if they look like they could potentially be Dark Cornish, but I don't see why you'd be worried if you wanted egg layers. Dark Cornish make awesome layers, my husband had a bunch of them when he lived in Texas. His mom still keeps them, he gave all his to her when he moved up here. Dark...
Thanks, well, until he looks otherwise, I guess we'll go with the silver leghorn, then. If I end up unable to keep him, then I may know someone that wants him (they are, after all, looking for a new roo) I guess I'll be looking into trying to learn more about them. I also have a niece...
