Eggs with no shell - not eating, drinking - still active

She is 2. She's low on the pecking order but when I bring out the feed she is the only hen that just wanders away. When I approach her she lowers yourself as if she's ready to mate and I'm the rooster. FYI: My area doesn't allow roosters.

Eggs with no shell - not eating, drinking - still active

My Buff Orpington wanders the yard fluffed up and broody but she shows no interest in eating or drinking and her eggs are shell-less. I provide her with calcium and baked egg shells. I have caged her with minerals and food and fresh water. I dewormed her in the spring. Help?

Young male 'keet is sleeping all the time

I have had several parakeets over the past 20 years but I'm confused. My 4 month old parakeet, Porthos, has been sleeping a lot and bobbing his head in an unusual way these past 5 days. He snacks on his seed during the day. His eyes and nostrils look fine. His poo isn't the usual tight circle...

    mites, mites, mites

In May, 7 out of 10 of my chickens had live mites and eggs on their feathers. As of yesterday, 9 out of 10 have eggs on them but I didn't see a single live mite. Do I separate the 1 hen away from the flock?

I have 8 hens that are allowed to free-range all day. LucyAnn, my only Dominique, is my problem-child. She jumps over my fence and stands at my backdoor baulking loudly whenever she's hungry, bored and/or cranky. Her baulking starts at 6am but doesn't stop until after sunset. My neighbors have...

Earlier this year, in April, I had a rat problem. 6 weeks later the rats were gone. Yesterday I saw 2 more rats. How can I keep these critters AWAY? Accepting all advice, thank you.

My bantam Silkie is very broody. She also fluffs up and screeches. The sound reminds me of predator, haha. Luckily, she's very friendly just puts on a big display.
