Thank you so much chooks4life. That was very well written and really helpful. You cleared up a lot of the Qs I had so I thank you again for that. No more birds have shown symptoms or died so just 2 dead in total. I will try to bring in one for testing just to be sure. Vaccinating for...

    HELP I have Mareks!!

The other day I noticed in my indoor growers pen that ones leg was slowly twisting around. I thought it was just splayed as the same bird had this problem when a few day old. It is now completely backwards facing, the bird couldn't walk, I culled it. Now I notice white scabs on the other 4s skin...

The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Does anybody know if there is a difference in the standard between UK and U.S. bred birds and are certain points of the breed seen as more important (for example shape more important than coulor in the U.S. and vice versa in the UK? Or is it the same?) between the 2 countries? Thanks

Can anyone identify the breed of my chicken?

I think the right is more of the UK serama type, not as exaggerated. The wing stance isn't correct for a Jap also

    Broody hen question

Thanks for replying. Woke up this morning and a chick was missing searched everywhere and I presumed the crows got it. I heard a faint peep coming from the other hens box and there the chick was nestled with the other hen. I still separated them as their coop wasn't suitable for chicks

    Broody hen question

I have a trio of Jap bantams, they share the same house and run. Both hens are sitting on eggs and a few have hatched under one today. Will the cock or other hen show aggression towards the new chicks? and must I seperate them. The three of them are very tame and handled regularly. Thanks

    Gapeworm

Thanks for replying. She gasps for air and extends her neck as she breathes while making a sort of wheezing sound. I do think this is gapeworm but I might be wrong and she also sneezes often. Also lost a lot of weight. Only bought her a few weeks ago and has been inside most of the time bar 2...
