Hi All....just popping in to say hello! It has been a long while! What are you all making right now?
I'm gearing up to soap this weekend...we are getting a little snow storm here and I'm looking forward to breaking out the soap pot!
Hope you all are well!!
PS I just added 6 brahmas, 2...
I prefer coloring at thin trace too...and if you stir the pot you will see that the soap 'reliquifies' back to a thinner trace...I color...and then I have dh stir the soap while I'm coloring the others. Stirring it prevents the gel stage and thick trace...you can do this over in my experience a...
Morgaine...my wholesale order for the beekeepers was for plain honey soap. I used bubblewrap on top of the soap...and it came OUT so pretty like honeycomb. Let me post some pictures later...of it. I really liked the outcome of it.
That sounds simply devine! I understand why you would put the bananas into the oils instead of the water...it is an oily fruit. Avocado's come to mind too...that could be done that way! Here we go again...experimenting I go! My farmers market requires that you use as many 'local'...
Morgaine...YOU PUT BANANAS in the Fruity Oaty bar?! THAT IS fantastic! It is really lasting too...I loved the heft of it! Did you discount the water and put the mashed bananas in that way? How did you incorporate it?
WOW....you girls have been BUSY! I had a great day at the farmers market too...I sold almost all of my Mojito and every last bar of Lily of the Valley. SO much soap so little time....
I have to share...I'm so tickled...KEN BURNS came to the farmers market where I am a member and BOUGHT a bar...

So sad today...one of my lakenvelders...
I've used soymilk and almond milk...LOVELY it is. I notice the bar is much harder with soymilk and almond milk at 24 hours than the goatsmilk ones.
MORGAINE...your rack looks like mine right now (-: I've been rebatching all my trimmings...WOW am I making some cool stuff! I'll have to...

Our local town and mascot has to be put down...we are looking for a 'companion' retired Simmental Ox so his partner does not have to be put down as well. Please contact Anika Clark if you are in the New England area and have knowledge of a retired oxen available.
Swanzey braces for loss of...
Love love love it Dipsy!! That is all I do it print the labels on my printer...I figure it's better since you throw them away anyhow! There are custom label printing shops out there with waterproof labels etc.

Yes...I'd just use regular castor oil it SAP value is nearer Olive. To make Turkey Red...they add sulfuric acid to castor oil. I've never soaped with Turkey Red...because the sulfuric acid turned me off. IMHO Do not know if it really makes a difference or not.
I'm going to...

You know...I'm kind of wondering if you used ONLY liquid oils (ie Fractionated coconut oils or even Castor?) in your recipe it might make a better liquid soap? I have had requests for DOG liquid soap as well...but I was going to use a shampoo recipe...this is Ellen Peacocks...

What are you thinking of? I have a solution for that problem - just live somewhere where you can only have a few. Actually, with the loss of our Penny girl a few weeks ago, we're thinking of getting a couple of babies, perhaps in April.
Now, if you think both chickens and...
