    thanks for the fast replies- much appreciated. She is a year and a 1/2. Nobody else (knock on wood) is sick. The weather isn't too cold now, lows in the 40s. Nobody is picking on her yet. I am going to google duramayacin. thanks again- any other thoughts?

    ...them until today. The hen that I eventually caged up did get all puffy when another chicken walked up to her... but I am not 100% confident it is *her*. The original was a crazy broody. Screamed at you when you came by... this one didn't do that... but was staying on the eggs. Nobody else...
