    I have 1 nesting box where 3 silkie hens are all broody. I finally gave them eggs and they just keep stealing them for each other.... Strangest things. All together i think i have 8 broody hens..... So silly - there are no eggs under most of them....

    Place your raised beds off the ground like up on cinder blocks. Then you will save your back from bending over and you'll never have a gopher problem that will make you act like Bill Murray in Cadyshack. Whom i felt like till i put in double layers of chicken wire under my raised beds.

    I just saw that one of my silkie babes about 4 or 5 week old has a crossed beak, just a bit so far but I'm sad. it's the Isabella color, which isn't easy to find. The chick came from a shipped egg.

    I'm still trying to talk my hubby into it. Norco is pretty far from Spring Valley. We do still have some silkies from this weekend and the hatched all the way till Sunday, started thursday - some lazy hatchers.... I just put them all in that basket to take a photo of all of them together...

    Silkie? This last hatch I had some hatch that look patridge striped but more of a gray, like a several different colors of gray. I have hight hopes and am looking really forward to ssee what color i end up with. So sorry i need to take more photos.
