San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

That's terrible. What do you think happened? Or just not thriving? I usually buy from ideal, but I wanted to try some from mcmurray. My shipment will be in may.
yeah..not sure why they are dying. I'm hoping I don't lose anymore, McMurray was very kind and is replacing them, so I'm pleased with how they respond to these kinds of situations. I realize they can't control certain aspects of the process but they've shown me they care about their customers by making such a generous offer and that will keep me going back to them. I don't know if the chicks were just not thriving or what, but I have noticed that they are smaller than the other chicks of the same age..??...so whether it was time of year, shipping stress, health issues of the parents etc...the fact they are willing to stand behind their product and help their customers says alot to me.

But I do know I will follow 3riverschicks advice and buy some nutri drench for this new shipment of babies, anything to prevent them from and me from going through that again.

this saturday april 6th at Neil Snipes park in Norco starts at 10am

Wow, that soon? How many of the rest of you are going? What are you bringing? I am going to also bring A LOT of poultry supplies: LG gallon and quart waterers, automatic waterers, feeders, misc tubs.,, buckets, containers. Now that I am down to about 25 chickens, I just don't need all of this equipment.

Here are the rabbits I could bring, if anyone is interested in a specific rabbit from this list, let me know so I can bring it to the meetup, otherwise I will just bring a selection.

Mini Rex Tricolor baby buck, $25
Mini Rex Broken Blue Doe, baby $25
Mini Rex Black Otter Sr. Buck $20
Mini Rex Opal Doe, bred $35
Mini Rex Blue Sr. Buck $20
Mini Rex Lilac Sr. Buck, $15
Trio of Jersey Woolies - 1 blue doe, G.Ch., lots of legs, 4 yrs old., 1 tort doe, about 2 yrs old, tort buck, about 1 1/2 yrs. $65 for all three.
Black Lionhead doe, bred to a broken black. $75

WHY do they make this so CONFUSING??? Or is it because I'm blond???

I'll take a look into what I inquired about because I am not sure the difference. I just want to sell eggs, thats all, at my property, to friends and neighbors. No one is concerned about grading, just good clean healthy eggs. My husband is a nervous nelly and wants me to go through the proper channels so we don't get sued if someone gets sick.....and I dont' even think having a license will prevent that.

anyhow, thanks...I'll check more into who and what I did???

There is some good links in here about that. Its best to ask for Donations in exchange for eggs.
The sellers license would be for selling at farmers market and getting a resale license, but i really don't know. I did look it up and it made me mad so i stopped looking.....

Stinkers - I love the cake batter, tell me not to eat my own raw eggs. But i'm ranting and when you start it dig why the laws are there and who they protect.... Well it isn't you and me or our health.

I'm still trying to talk my hubby into it. Norco is pretty far from Spring Valley.
We do still have some silkies from this weekend and the hatched all the way till Sunday, started thursday - some lazy hatchers....

I just put them all in that basket to take a photo of all of them together. Thats not there normal home, but the red heat lamp makes all the chicks look really funny so i try not to take photos under the red light you can't really see anything...
