Condensation and precipitation are synonyms :)
That's what I assumed, although I wanted another opinion. Thanks! I'll go ahead and buy one from amazon. Any suggestions?
Hey all,
I did some looking around on here and didn't see anyone else with my (potential) problem.
Some back story; I live in WA, while incubating my eggs up until day 18, my incubator maintains a humidity level of about 45% with out adding any water. If I were to fill three of the...
I'm fixen' to buy some silkie eggs withing these next couple weeks to hatch.
Do you guys think I am going to have any problems introducing the two broods once the silkies are large enough to defend themselves (10ish weeks old)? I always segregate the chickens in the same run for about a week...
That's shocking that Gretchen is a silkie mix! I never would have imagined, although I am fairly new to chickens. Harriet and Gretchen are my two favorites so it's cool to know where they came from.
Ginger does lay eggs, although they are not as dark as I would think? I'll post a pic below...
Hello all!
I have a couple breeds that I'm curious about. I got them from craigslist where they were advertised as mixed breeds, so I guess they could really be anything. Sorry for the blurry or bad quality photo's, any help would be appreciated!
I'm pretty sure this first one is a red...
Can you give us a quick abstract? I've been doing a lot reading on mixed breeds and general genetics lately myself, trying to wrap my head around it all.
Yes thanks for all the help Ol Grey Mare!
I'm not sure what I'll do with all of them because I don't think anyone on will take them because they are mixed. I think I may have to "harvest" them.
I spoke to my friend who's in a veterinary school and although she doesn't have much experience with chickens specifically, she gave me some tips. In my case she suggested cleaning it with soapy water twice a day and keeping it moist and wrapped in neosporin. She mentioned that my chicks foot...
I was taking a look at my chicks earlier and noticed that one had a peanut sized clump of poop stuck to her back toe, so I soaked it and warm soapy water and slowly picked it off. But the toe has an hole in it and I really don't know what to do. Please help!
Hey All,
Over month ago I bought seven pullets from a women off of craigslist, a couple days later I built a small coop out off scrap materials that were lying around my barn. I'm quite proud of it as it cost me absolutely nothing. But just last week I found myself subject to a terrible...
Hey Everyone,
Second thread within in a couple minutes, I'm on a role.
A couple weeks ago I posted a picture of one of my girls on here and someone swore it was a rooster. As they grow older I am getting more curious myself. The birds are mixed breeds being silver laced polish and Rhode...
Hey All!
I recently bought two golden laced wyandottes, and three RIR's. I'm going to take a picture of them every week until they're fully grown and post them on here. It'll be fun watching them grow and transform into beautiful birds, It may even help people determine the age of newly bought...
That's what I was thinking, if they don't roost on the raised beds at night already, why would they start roosting outside the coop now? I'm going to do it!
trudyg do they ever roost ON the swings? I've seen people on here build swings for their chickens.
Yes my whole pen is covered in bird netting to keep predators out. I mentioned a top on the "maybe roost" because I live in Washington and it might give them a place to stay out of the rain OTHER than some large Doug Firs and underneath their raised coop.
Maybe perching on the raised beds will...
