    I have been contemplating something similar. I don't know about building large coops but I have noticed there is a decent market for chicken tractors. Sell them a tractor and a couple of layers. I see some people locally selling for $300 - 500.

    Can you describe a little more in detail what you mean by building a box and wiring it to the trigger? The foot trigger is never tripped and the swing gate is always open so he's stepping over the trigger.

    Wasn't able to stake the trap into the ground last night before setting it. Woke up this morning and checked... trap was shut, ruts all around the trap and empty can of tuna.

    I didn't tie my trap down but I am setting it again tonight and will probably use a piece of rebar that I found in the bed of my truck. It's amazing how quickly junk accumulates back there and I always enjoy the surprises that await me everytime I get around to cleaning it out! You tube videos...

    How did I count wrong?

    My chicken math started with 3 hens about 2 years ago... Just hatched out 31 chicks over the weekend... 18 hatched out 4 weeks ago... and after rescuing a few roosters to put with my hens I'm up to 7 layers (3 BR's 2 RIR's and 2 EE's) and 2 roos (RIR & EE).
