Anybody that keeps ducks in a residential area as pets?

I'm trying to get a zoning variance in order to keep my 3 pet ducks. I already had to rehome most of them. I just submitted my notification to the newspaper and everything will be ready to turn in when I can get to the courthouse Wednesday to the auditor and get the name list of everyone I have...

    All my ducks need rehomed

Thanks to everyone who has offered to help. I found someone fairly locally (about 20 mins away) on Craigslist who's kids show ducks for 4-H at the fair and they live in the country and have lots of land. She went ahead and took them all but the 3 I decided to try to keep. I did trade out my...

I paid extra to have her sexed and she's already starting to quack. I bought her from metzer farms so professionals sexed her.

    All my ducks need rehomed

The blue runner is bubbles and the Swedish is buttercup. They are still young. June 13th they were hatched. They are definitely starting to feather out. The buff was also from that same hatch. Bought from metzer farms. These are my youngest. They have their little quacks going. The blue runner...

    All my ducks need rehomed

Meeting went terrible. They told me it was a zoning issue and nothing they could do and I'd have to pay the fee and file the paperwork for a zoning variance. The town attorney made his opinion pretty clear that he thought it would get denied even if I file but I still might. I feel like I have...

Several ducks need rehomed 3 females 1 male

The part about the buff sounds weird. She's for sure female would just have to be a special home to let her go. She's a special duck not sure if I can do it.

Several ducks need rehomed 3 females 1 male

Due to certain circumstances I'm not going to go into again (I have a detailed post in the duck section) some of my ducks need rehomed. I have 2 khakis (male and female), female Pekin, and possibly a female buff to a very good home. If after the council meeting they are still considered exotic...

    All my ducks need rehomed

No he didn't have a warrant. I have been trying to figure out what he was doing on the access road all day and can't. It's only my garage and a neighbors garage on it then goes off into a cornfield. It doesn't even have a name and doesn't even get plowed in the winter so it's not even a "real"...

    All my ducks need rehomed

@lmnohos I'm not sure how far you are but I'd meet you half way up to a couple hours if it meant getting a good home. I've been reading over the other ordinances and I MAY be able to get 5 to slide as the upper most limit as a pet so that means rehoming 4 (really trying not to get my hopes up...

    All my ducks need rehomed

I called the police station to gather info for the meeting tomorrow and nobody put in a complaint. The officer found it himself and called it in. Considering they were back on an access road with no drive by traffic next to a cornfield in a dark garage in their pen for the night I'm not sure how...

    All my ducks need rehomed

I'm going to go ahead an rehome 3 of my ducks. 2 females and one male. My 2 khakis and one female Pekin and try to keep the rest. I'm going to a town council meeting tomorrow night. The head council person happens to be my high school softball coach and my mom is friends with someone else on the...

    All my ducks need rehomed

...too but I'm going to ask why now when she's had ducks in her front yard for years is it a big deal. Our cops around here are all great except one ******* and guess who was snooping around my garage last night and left the warning. Yep him. He even shined his light at my house to see if anyone...

    All my ducks need rehomed

Got a nice warning after several months from the police department that I can't have "exotic animals." Going to try to fight it because I don't think my domestic ducks are exotic but I have 2 males (a saxony and a khaki Campbell) and a 7 females ( 3 pekins, khaki cambell, blue Swedish, blue...

Thoughts on necessity of duck vets.

I agree that some people see their ducks as livestock for meat and eggs (like chickens) and it's just kind of survival of the fittest and that's fine. My ducks, however, are my pets. I have taken one to the vet. I'm severely allergic to dogs and cats so we can't own them. When I thought Bernie...

Where did you find your Ancona and/or Magpie ducks?

I got lucky and found my saxony on Craigslist. Best part is all he cost me was an hour of my time. Unfortunately the guy getting rid of him list a couple females to coyotes and had to get rid of males. I've been keeping an eye out for more too but so far haven't got lucky again.

The youngest 3 I just got Wednesday so are still going to be in the house for a while. If Petes ways don't change I'm worried they may be inside forever though

Need help with a female bully

I believe so there's 3 of them and they have constant access to a 20' by 22' fenced outside area and can always go to inside their 12' by 8' indoor area.

Need help with a female bully

My oldest 3 ducks, 2 female pekins and a make saxony are kept together. Pete (girl pekin) is mean to Bernie, my saxony drake. Booster pack, my other female Pekin is not. Yes I'm sure both pekins are female. The interesting thing is Pete is only mean and goes after Bernie when booster pack is...

    Dominant Duck??

I had one like that. Swore it was a boy due to its dominant behavior. Turns out Pete is just a really bossy girl. She even picks on my male duck who is significantly larger than her sometimes.
