Hens?
They are 4 weeks old.
The silver laced one started growing head feathers first (although she is smaller) and she has more of them compared to the golden laced one who has a V-shape comb.
Better to be hens.
Thanks!
Hi,
What's wrong with this picture?
About 2 months ago she had a red and oozy bottom and I thought that it was egg peritonitis. We even took radiographs at my work but did not see any stuck egg inside her. I am pretty sure that she has not laid any eggs since. I soaked her bottom in a warm...
Silkieroo!
Thank you so much to make me to look under her toes! There they were (in both legs) -the little scabs! I think that Polly has a bumble foot indeed!
Luckily I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and can take Polly tomorrow to work with me to get treated. Hopefully we can get...
OMG!!
I think that I can take care of the cleaning part but keeping the feet bandaged will be a challenge. May be I should keep her separated in a dog crate? How long time do you think it will take to get rid of this? Will the other chicken be affected???
Thanks so much for your help!
Hello,
I just found out that one of my three Delawares has a these "nubs" between her toes (in both feet- I hope that the photo helps). She is perfectly fine with them but I was just wondering if they are going to grow, and WHAT are them??? They feel like really hard and when I pinch them it...
Thanks all for your reply!
So I have decided not to eat any eggs for 2 weeks. The dogs can have some.
I have never given eggs for my chicken to eat- it would be kind of strange in my opinion....
By the way, I also e-mailed to the company that produces Zodiac and I'll let you know if they...
Did I screw it up?
I applied Zodiac Flea & Tick Spray to my chicken yesterday (3-5 pumps/each). I just panicked because when I examined one of my Sussexes I noticed that she had a lot of lice and had lost feathers from her rump!!! I also put Sevin into their nesting boxes.
By doing this did...
Here are few of my chickens:
"Silkie" (her name and breed are the same )
Vanessa (Speckled Sussex)
She likes cantaloupes
Dolly "the Delaware" enjoying her daily fruits
I wonder if I could try that trick for my Polish girls? They would love to eat yogurt but I have not been giving it to them much lately because their crests always get sooooo messy afterwards. I actually have to give them baths (after they have eaten yogurt).
Does anybody know that when I should go there if I want to see the most of the chickens? When are they judged? I am intersted in seeing as many as possible Polishes, Speckled Sussex and Delawares.
Thanks!
Do you mean canned cat food or dry cat food?
Also, should the sunflower seeds be without shells? Don't the black sunflower seeds come with shells? Any other seeds that would work?
My Polish girls are molting and the other one is changing her whole crest It is full of new feathers. They love...
Thanks!
The only think to do, I quess, is to wait patiently.
(I am just already hating the idea that I have a roo that I cannot keep. This already happened. Luckily, the roo got the best kind of place to live, and I gave away him with his favorite hen...)
The reason I got young chicks again...
I have 2 4 week old Speckled Sussex chiks and the one is LARGE and has a lot of feathers and has a very long and fluffy tail. "She" stands tall. The other one is small and has lighther head. Her tail is much smaller.
I also have one Partridge Rock chick who has almost no tail and she is the...
I am a happy owner of three chiks
They are 3 weeks old now. Two of them are Speckled Sussex and the little one is Partridge Rock. Thay are from McMurray and I am hoping them to be pullets.
Sussex:
Is it still too early to tell the roos from hens? They are a little bit different sizes...
???
My White Crested Black Polish Hen got pecked by OEGB Rooster last year around this time and finally in the beginning of last summer I separated her from the others. After that she also had her first molt. She looked miserable.
Currently she looks great EXCEPT the fact that the area where...
Hi! Any Poultry Experts there?
I am just curious about garlic.
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and I know that garlic and onion are very bad for cats and dogs. They can cause a condition called Heinz body anemia in cats and dogs if fed in large amounts or for a long period of time...
