Oh, I had this problem too. Mine was a Cockoo Maran. She was so loud. She started every day at 6:30am. She also got her sisters going. I would run out every morning to try to quiet them. I had 5 hens and 3 were so loud I moved them into the garage till about 9am. I am in a suburban area and I...

Free 7wk old EE bantam roo in Southern California*Pictures*

Well my EE chick definitely crowed yesterday. I thought he did it before but now I am sure its a boy. Anyone want to take him off my hands? I can't have a rooster and he needs to go before he develops his crow. He is a pretty little thing. I will try to post pics tomorrow.

    One week old-pictures

Thanks. I have a hard time staying away. Its so cute how the mom's take care of them and teach them. I am learning their vocalizations. I hatched my first hens in an incubator and took care of them myself. This time I can sit back and let the mommas do all the work.

Eggs under broody hen and incubator -*Update with Pictures*

Oh my goodness. I thought I was bad with 18 eggs. Its day 17 and I am down to 6 eggs. 12 of them never developed. So I have three under the broody and three in the 'bator. Of course another hen has gone broody so I may switch out the non-fertile eggs she is sitting on for the three in the...

    Nest bedding question

I have a broody sitting on eggs in the coop. She has the normal bedding (pine shavings)in there and in the rest of the coop. I know when putting chicks in a brooder its recommended that you cover the bedding so they don't eat it. But what about hen raised chicks? Should I remove all the bedding...

Eggs under broody hen and incubator -*Update with Pictures*

My hen Nebula went broody and I decided to let her try to hatch some eggs. I sent out a call for eggs quick and ended up being sent 18. (Way more than I can keep if they hatch.) Not knowing if my hen will be a good brooder or mommy I was to nervous to put them all under her so I split them up...

    Low Spouse Impact Chickens

Hi, I think the price of the henspa is nuts. If you are only getting a few hens I would go with a doghouse kit or a rabbit hutch. They are easy to assemble and a small run is easy to make. I got a free rabbit hutch and made the run myself and I am not that handy. My hens don't really care that...
