I will get pics when I take out the keets... I still have 18 eggs left to hopefully hatch so I don't want to open it up yet! Too hard to get pics through the viewing window, although trust me - I tried!!
I had my first keets hatch yesterday! Today is the 28th day, but 6 out of 24 came early. A bunch of the eggs are pipped, so I'm anxiously awaiting more keets. It's so exciting!
Alternatively, I have electric wire fencing that I use for my horses. Would a few strands of that placed lower to the ground deter raccoons or whatever it may be? How high would I need to go?
OK, I will get hardware cloth after work today and put traps in place. I have electric net fence around my chicken coop, I guess I'll have to invest in another roll. I thought about saving one of the "victims" to use as bait, but then ended up disposing of them against my better judgement...

I will have to try the blown egg with something bad tasting in them - any suggestions? Vinegar? My hens are all very friendly and they follow me around whenever I'm with them, so it doesn't strike me as too odd when they run in to the nesting boxes when I'm collecting eggs. Thanks for the...
You're right, I don't have anything to lose trying to hatch them! I'd like to get some more to put in the incubator at the same time though, just in case mine are all duds.
HOLY EGGS!!! I can't believe you have so many!! And I know, $40 a dozen is just plain nuts for the backyard farm with no breed preference, etc. I did find a place that sells the eggs for 50 cents each, but they are booked with orders for the season already. Otherwise I'd put 25-30 in the...
My poults are in with my chicks as well - and the chicks have been doing just fine on the 28% turkey starter. (I did ask to make sure it was okay before I put them together.) You definitely want the higher protein for your poults!
