We purchased chicks from a local breeder (NPIP). We purchased 40 since our birds are older and not laying. We raised them like all our other chicks (we've raised a lot). They were active, healthy chicks. We moved them into a coop that is new, we added some DE to the ground, and put shavings on...
I am looking for birds or eggs from SLW and Speckled Sussex. We're trying to get good stock- not from hatchery lines, that are true to the breed standards. Please let me know if you breed these or know someone that does! Thanks!

We have had the adults for about 6 months. They are on Layena plus free range time (have to be put up at night due to fox issues) so I don't think there would be an issue with nutrition?
...I was leaning that way as well. Of course, both parents are fine APPEARING- or else I never would have bred them of course! Just frustrating, but I think I will be culling birds tonight. *Sigh*
Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this and if we're on the right track with this!
...are still bulging and closed. Any idea what this could be? I am thinking bad genetics?
We hatched out quail successfully earlier, so its not our *first* time with an incubator but we aren't experts by any means lol. We also hatched a Golden Pheasant that hasn't had any issues so I am not...
Our white rocks are super docile. Our 4 year old can run right up to them and carry them around without a problem. They are also nicer to each other then some others we have had. Our Wyandottes are also docile.
Great that is what I thought....
I posted earlier about these guys not being hardy and maturing at the rate they should be- guess now there are more clues to this! Guess I will sell this stock off and get some eggs or chicks from a real breeder.
Anyone have Dele eggs? lol
What color legs are Delaware chicks supposed to have? We ordered ours from a commercial hatchery and they have gray/slateish legs. I thought they were supposed to have yellow?
I picked up 4 Khacki Campbell ducklings yesterday. They told me there was no way to tell make from female, but online there seems to be different thoughts on ways to do this.
One thing I read said dark bills and colors are females light are male- If that is the case I have 1 that is MUCH...
I know this is an old thread, but I am very interested to know if someone found out if this is true?
I just picked up some today and some of mine have that!
I read that you can use a dab of that blueing shampoo for white hair and it works but I really have no idea! I am completly new at this also- wanted to learn then saw this so I figured I would go for it!

I know a guy in Milton that has some quail. He is on the Pensacola Craigslist advertising Red Bourban turkey so you can find his number there. Hope this helps!
We will be going- I just entered a few of ours- although I don't hold much of any hope for actually winning- it will still be...
