    Limping Chook!!

So my girl is still limping the same after a week of treatment, and her wound is almost closed. I am wondering if she has damaged a muscle or a joint higher up?? I am still cleaning, bandaging etc, and there is no sign of any swelling on her pad at all. Should I now try to confine her to limit...

    Limping Chook!!

I cannot get anti-biotic cream here in the UK over the counter, and I cannot see my doctor prescribing me some for my chook hehe :) I have epsom cleaned it, put some poultry anti-bacterial powder on, then gauze, cotton pad (for comfort :p) and flexi bandage. My concern is that her limp is quite...

    Limping Chook!!

Hello BYC! I have an 18mth old Bluebell who started limping Saturday eve after her free range (I was away at the time and got a message from her carers). I asked them to try and inspect her leg and foot, and aside from a dirt scab on her left footpad, they said she seemed fine. When I got home...

    Rescued hen with distended tummy!!

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/853726/ascites-in-desperate-need-of-some-help-and-guidance/10 I am thinking he meant she had the same issue as the pictures Kathy linked... The necropsy pics. Rescued hen with distended tummy!!

Many thanks for the info. I took her to the vets who said it was not something she would recover from unless she had surgery, and even then she may not survive that. He said the huge mass was mineral based and not a tumor, and that she would eventually suffer more over the next few days, so I...

    Preening issues and lice/mites

Hi :) One of my girls ( young layer) has a beak that is shorter on the top than the bottom, and I am guessing that she is having problems preening due to the amount of lice she has, and she is also a lazy dust bather. I have powdered her with lice/mite treatment, dusted the nest boxes, the...

A very beautiful girl, but cannot find her breed!

Hi all, I bought 3 POL's a few months back, 2 are very common breeds but 1 girl, I cannot find out what she is, purely by her colour! She is not white, she is not yellow or golden, but like a cream colour. Her neck feathers shine golden cream in the sunlight. I have had white chooks before and...
