So we have a silkie hen that mothers 5 chicks. They’re about 3 weeks old now. Are you able to separate the mother from the chicks after a certain amount of time?
Our silkie has hatched 5 wonderful hens and she seems like she’s spending all her time off of the 3 eggs remaining. Does that mean she’s done with them? Do we need to throw them out in a few days?
Is it okay to take momma and her 5 chicks that all range from 1-3 days old outside to peck around in the grass for like 15-20 mins. (I’ll have shade for them too but the 1 day ones are already eating food and scratching around.)
I know this is probably a really hard question to answer but doesn’t anyone know what colors they may end up being? All three are between 1-2 days old rn. And I bet it’s too early to tell but any gender based on the pics?
I couldn’t really find a clear answer on the internet so I’m asking here. We went out at 10:30 this morning and found a beautiful fluffy mixed color chick! We took the egg shell out thinking nothing of it but was that bad?
Dumb question but I see videos of babies getting out of eggs when they’re like sitting in the incubator but like how do they do it when they’re being sat on? Will she move off of them
We candled the eggs tonight and with the most powerful flashlight we got, all we could see was like an air pocket. Nothing else. Is that good or bad news?
My chicken is on day 16 right now of sitting and I wanted to see when was the earliest day and latest day your eggs have hatched? We had a egg hatch on day 31 one time and he’s still a healthy rooster to the day at about 4 years old! Shows anything is possible.
She’s been sitting for 4 days now and she hasn’t touched the food and water sitting conviently 2 feet away from her. We move her about twice and day off the eggs and put her right at the food. She just lays there and doesn’t have a care in the world. She’d sit there beside the food without her...
Hello all, I have a Wilkie that’s about 8 months old that’s been broody for 3 days now. She’s got 7 eggs right now. Should I be worried about her harming herself without eating or drinking? The few times I’ve checked each day I never see her out. Something on the Internet said move her once a...
We have a 4 month old EE rooster that’s very aggressive to all the birds but particularly one bird, a fellow EE. She’s all white so we think he can see her better. He pretty much chases her all day and she will ride in the box to get away. He’ll also hide in the box almost like ambushing her...
This is a little off topic and I didn’t know where to ask it but hopefully someone might know. I’m from SC and it looked like some sort of rattlesnake. He had to die since he was in the pen and I didn’t know if he was good or bad. I don’t like killing these guys😢
Hey, does anyone else had any roosters start crowing at 7-8 weeks old? Our EE roo ( or was supposed to be a hen) started full blown nice crows at 2 months old.
