I hope mine doesn't end up that way! She's always been the dominant one out of all 3 of them but she's not horrible. I don't really see her picking on the other 2 and she doesn't always attack me but I'll have to keep an eye out over the next few weeks while we're waiting for them to start...
I really hope it's a hen. We can't have roosters here and I don't know what to do with it if she ends up being a roo! Not planning on showing at all though. We just want the eggs. We're loving being chicken owners so far! :) We're thinking about getting a few more this spring.
I hope she does too! I'm pretty sure she's not a heritage quality... I'm a newbie though so I'm not totally sure what that means but I got them from My Pet Chicken so I'm assuming they are from Meyer Hatchery.
They were 18 weeks on Wednesday. :) They do kind of have shiny greenish feathers on their necks if the light hits them in the right spot but I'm still (almost, until today anyway!) 100% sure that all 3 are hens.
This is my first time having chickens. I got them because I heard RIRs are nicer than some breeds and also because I was told they were good for beginners. My other 2 are pretty sweet. A little skittish though. They were hatched May 21 and they came in the mail to my house around May 23rd.
Her tail feathers look like my other 2. They all 3 look girly to me except for 2 of their combs and wattles. I just don't know anymore lol. This is my first time having chickens. Just as soon as I think I have it all figured out something like this happens and I get all overwhelmed. Is this what...
Hmm.. I'll have to talk to them about it if and when they watch them again. Don't have any trips planned until Christmas. Do you think if it was something the kids did she'll stop on her own once she realizes I won't hurt her? Or can I do something to get her to stop?
I don't think I've ever accidentally scared or hurt her...Maybe the people who were watching them while I was gone accidentally scared or hurt her? They have 2 girls (aged 5 and 8) so maybe they did something unintentionally that's making her act like this now.
I haven't noticed any changes in her feathers. They've all looked the same for months now. I'm only noticing changes in their combs and wattles. And apparently their behavior.
No, I learned a long time ago not to go in the run with sandals on lol. All 3 will go after my toes if I do. She goes after my legs. She jumps up and tries to scratch me with her claws and she pecks at my legs at the same time. I just went in there to get the pix though and she didn't do it.
Ugh :( What do I do with her/him if she is a roo? We can't have roos in our city.
Here's more pix:
Here's the other one who looks just like her/him. Could this one be a roo? I posted a pic a couple weeks ago because I thought her comb was looking roo-y and the other 2...
