I just looked at your thread and sure enough, it looks very similar. I hope the best for your hen, it took about two weeks for it to harden and fall off.
Speaking of which, worked well for me. The strangest thing happened, her wound hardened up and the other day I noticed it was barely hanging onto her. I gently tugged it and it came right off!? Underneath was a wayy smaller lump of normal looking raw flesh. Havent seen maggots since a few days...
Hello all,
I recently got back from vacation and i noticed one of my hens was picking at her butt and laying down more often than usual. Upon examination, I saw the most horrific thing I think i’ve ever seen. Yesterday I found her vent and underneath covered in maggots. I immediately researched...
It's been quite a while, but i'm happy to inform you all Piggy has recovered! It took almost 3 months to get her back with the flock but she is totally OK.
Yes, she is in her own cage. But I have some good news. She hadn't pooped for two days, but last night she pooped once. And this morning I got up to see that she had pooped two more times! Piggy stands up now and even walks around a little. Her neck is still wry, but she is actually getting better!
We have been feeding and giving Piggy water and she has been doing better than the past two days. She tries to stand up now but her poor neck still goes twisty if we dont elevate or hold it. She favors her right side and leans towards it when she stands up. She still hasnt pooped which is...
Hello all.
Piggy is still the same as she was earlier today. I have given her the suggested amount of dosage of vitamin E using the oil that I have, and have been watering down her food to give it to her. I have also given her some yogurt, and have been making sure she stays hydrated. I held her...
Okay all, i'm going to head off to pay fully attention to Piggy. Thank you for your support and help. I will update you tonight. I've been busy trying to get the vitamin E in her, but i'm trying to have patience.
Oh yes, I am more than well aware of the consequences :barnie Thankfully the two girls who decided to want to have babies have made their way back into the flock. She probably wont be up on her legs today, but if she is I will let her see her friends. If she isn't by tomorrow, ill take her out...
Thank you. When she was out in the garage her friends would come to visit her every so often, but it is so hot outside. When she can finally sit up I could probably take her out, only just the other day she was able to walk around with her friends and peck around. I will give her vitamin E oil
Yes. I will probably head to the store to find some. She seems to like the yogurt also, she has opened her eyes again and has been swallowing. I have been putting it on the end of her beak.
Oh, wow! this is pretty similar to my case. I will try to give her some yogurt now and I will keep that saved to maybe run out to the store later today.
I dont have pills, but I have oil. I have been giving her small dosages by mixing it in some water. We also have been mixing some agrilabs vitamins and electrolytes plus in just her regular water.
Also, I took her out and held her on her stomach, like a normal chicken sleeping/laying down. When i put her back in the box, she stretches out her legs and lays on her side like in the photo. I have her head and neck propped up on a towel because without it she turns her neck like crazy.
