I also have two roo's who live together and, like Natchlaly's roos, they only squabble over food and girls. The hens and 2nd roo know who the lead roo is and follow him everywhere! You shouldn't have a problem since they are being raised together!
The black hen is the mom of Honey/Horace. Don't know who the dad is but its one of these roos ( Red and Cap'n Jack) Her name is Hannah. The other hen is Chicky! Can anyone tell what they are?
I have one that looks like your buff who was born last September .. I thought she was a she but now I am having second thoughts..no egg - no crow?? Any ideas? I thought the girls were silkies but now I am having second thoughts about that also. Man am I a mess!:gig
Honey or Horace????
Here's my brooder! I love it because the top comes off like a litter box so I can just dump it out and put it back together! The chicks love it too! Its a rabbit hutch!
heres my babies
I saw a couple nasty old rats in the coop a couple of nights ago. We found the hole and boarded it up. My silkie's chick was hatched last night and I have four 2 1/2 week old chicks in the house in the brooder so now I am worried about the baby that just hatched! Should I lock mom and baby up...
Ok let me ask one question at a time since I got no replies for my earlier post..Hi all! I am getting four 3 weekers tomorrow from my new friend that I met here at BYC. I currently have roos and hens 1 year plus and a chick that is about 9 months old (the subject of which will be my second...
Thanks for the input on the real workings of the male mind, Spock!! You enlightened us all!!! Ladies, I really like the idea of saying I told him before but he must not have been listening! Always seems to work when I fib too!
Hi all! Just reading everyone's posts on when to put babies with older chicks and I have a new question. I am getting four 3 weekers tomorrow from my new friend that I met her at BYC. I currently have roos and hens 1 year plus and a chick that is about 9 months old (the subject of which will...
Good for you and best of luck with your new babies! I am so glad they are adapting to a happier life with you! Hopefully, the word will spread and all of those poor animals will get adopted into good homes. That man should be caged himself! I guess maybe Wisconsin is a little to far to...
I am very sorry for your loss :aww. I know it makes it much harder when you don't know what you are protecting against. My attack left one dead rooster in tact, no blood, two missing hens a lot of feathers and another rooster with no tail feathers! It was broad daylight and no sounds except...
We moved to the country in November 2004. In August 2006, I stopped at a Mennonite farm to buy sweet corn and something possessed me to ask if they ever sold any chickens. The next day I picked up two silkie roos and three silkie hens from them. Then I bought every chicken book I could get a...
I really like your 3-s method! Especially if I catch one red-handed. Never knew losing a couple of chickens would be so heartbreaking.. I can't imagine seeing it happen!
