We had 10 bunnies born on Thursday. We are down to 7…soon to be 6. I noticed one was (is) very close to death and decided to intervene. I began giving it kitten milk replacement and bundled it up in a heating pad. It’s resting now… I have no idea if what I’m doing is helping but I don’t...
It’s day 24 and one has already died while unzipping and another is having trouble. I haven’t noticed any further progress in hours and it looks as if the chick itself is upside down (butt to the air, beak unzipping upside down as well). I’m not sure what to do if anything.
I have 5 other eggs...
Both babies who just hatched have vents that look like this: is it normal??? The other one looks a little worse than this photo. It looks a little bloody and I tried cleaning the clogged poop off but stopped when I noticed a little red.
Hello! I’m currently having some chicks hatch. Two out of nine have hatched so far. There are several who are in the process of making their first pecks. I notice one looks to have a clogged vent already… should I open the incubator to let her out and fix her?

I just started day 17 and maintained a humidity level of about 55% this whole time. I had read on a blog to keep it at about this level but now that I am on this site I have been reading that it’s actually supposed to be closer to 30%… i candled them and I have been seeing movement this whole...
Man I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I took in some pekin ducks! They can freaking EAT!! To be honest, they’re eating me out of house and home and that’s WITH a pond plus 5 acres to forage!! How on earth people afford to keep ducks in a run or cage is beyond me.
Maybe it’s...
I’m beginning to regret letting my husband use mouse poison inside of our chicken coop. I’m not as worried about the hens getting to the poison directly, my husband made sure of that but what I AM worried about is the possibility of the hens getting to a dead mouse and eating it… could this harm...
So about two weeks ago I noticed that one of our ducks looked a bit off. At the time she was about three months of age. She kept her neck close to her body, walked a little slowly, and seemed to have a wing that she couldn’t completely close all the way. Then one evening as I was putting them...
Hello! If you’ve ever used a Little Tikes Playhouse/Cottage as duck housing can you tell me the pros and cons? It’s just temporary while we fix our barn.
We have ten Pekin ducks. Our pond is about a quarter of an acre and is about 7 or 8 ft deep. Will their waste contaminate the pond and make it uninhabitable for other wildlife??
My goodness!
Do Pekin ducks always cost this much to feed? We have ten. They go through food like crazy. They aren’t free-ranging yet since they’re still young but will they eat less feed once they’re no longer in an enclosure?? We have about 3 acres and a big pond where they’ll be and I’m...
I need to get my ducklings on niacin ASAP. Can I just put some in a feeder and let them free-feed??? Seems like a hassle to have to calculate.
Also, I have chicks in the same area. Will it harm the them??
I have 10 ducklings, they’re all about 3.5 weeks old... During the day, I keep them in an enclosure that’s about 10x16 but at night I move them all to a different cage which is much smaller and honestly probably too small... well this morning several of them came out of the cage with gashes on...
I realize that I don’t have much info to share. She’s been very lethargic the last few days, doesn’t seem to want water or food much. She has just been laying around for two days and seems to sleep often. I’ve been keeping her in a separate outdoor coop during the day and at night we bring her...
Every morning I can see that something has gotten into their food bins. Unfortunately so much of the room in our coop is being occupied by a bunch of broodies! I really have no space to keep their bins indoors... my question is, do you dump the food if you know that something has gotten into it...
