No problem! Yes I saw she was from Cackle when I was reading your post from a few weeks ago. I believed I was replying to you about a 14-week-old or so olive egger pullet of yours. Didn't occur to me this was a chick you didn't keep. Best!
Hey there, I'm so sorry that you lost 9 out of 10 chicks. That's awful. I don't have much experience, I'm raising my second batch of chicks now. My new chicks are 3 weeks old and they are an olive egger, an Easter egger, a Blue Ameraucana, and a Polish from My Pet Chicken. All of mine...
I use a deep oversized plastic bucket for my 3 week olds. They could easily fly right out of it even though it's a couple feet deep, so I cover it with a towel and carry it outside.
Wow, that was extremely interesting, thank you very much for taking the time to write that very comprehensive response! And you are correct, she is from a hatchery. I'm very glad to know a little about her history now.
Your photos are dark but from what I can see it has the common pullet feather pattern. I just posted a couple of questions about that type of patterning above.
I see so many easter eggers like Shirley Temple there. I have one too (see photo). My questions for those knowledgeable about EEs are (1) is this pattern always female, and (2) since the pattern is so common do we know what cross likely made it? Can you have a good idea of the breeds of the...

Scroll down the page and click on 'diseases'. Or is it possible you have bad allergies? I'm kind of paranoid, to be honest, that we will get sick from our...
We recently had to give a sick chick powder Tylan. A vet prescribed it to her and she said for us to give her 1/12 of a teaspoon (so, a small pinch based on her weight) in her drinking water twice a day, and for that to be the only water available. Chick got better very qjuickly.
Thank you all, good to know. Up until now I was concerned that they'd get an impacted crop or something if they ate pieces of grass that were too long. Watching her gulp a fat baby snake was a real eye opener.
My 12 week old buff orpington just ate a whole baby snake that was approximately 8 inches long. Her beak basically became a vacuum and the little snake disappeared while she gulped it down whole. It didn't look right. Now she's roosting for the night--she's acting normal, but the incident just...
Here are a few links I found:

Above is the link to the ordinances for Muhlenberg township, pretty sure Temple, PA falls within this district. Under Section 47-4, it looks like "domestic agricultural animals" are allowed only with permit, and city officials have...
