Good to know! My dominant black australorp is Very Loud and the other is quiet but both are talkative. My local feed store has some blue chicks so I'm thinking about getting some tomorrow :)
I was wondering on if anyone has experience with blue australorp personalities. I adore black australorps but wasn't sure if the blues focused more on color than personality. I'd love to hear yalls opinion on blue australorp behavior.
She finally started laying recently and I caught her laying yesterday!
She hasn't crowed since she has layed and started crowing infrequently a couple weeks before laying. Before that she got to where she was crowing many times a day, many times in a row :lau I miss her crowing fits but...
My 10-12wk chicks had a couple of bloody stool spots in their bedding this morning. This is the first time I've seen them poop like this. I've seen chicks shed intestinal lining, but I don't typically see it in multiple spots.
Should I start treating for cocci? Everyone was acting fine but I...
Thank you, I'm not sure on sex. Might be closer to 8 weeks but I think there is some stunted growth. When we got him, his leg was really bad off injured and the tsc workers had left him without food and water because they thought he was gonna die. When the manager found out the next day she was...
Here she is at about 20 weeks. Definitely a pullet. The weirdo still crows every morning but at least it isn't too loud and pretty comical. She's an odd one but I adore her and how squeaky her voice is
We talked over message but I wanted to provide the response here for anyone else looking 🙂 if you have updates on your chick also feel free to share on this thread
How would you recommend providing this to her? I tried layer boost supplement and it might have helped a little but it's pretty $ and doesn't make many gallons per container. I also bought cod liver oil but I don't know how to administer it. I tried in their food but I worry about it in the...
I have been seeing a soft shell egg many days when collecting my eggs. I've started to pin down who is laying them and I believe it is one of my buff orphingtons. All the other hens are laying normal eggs. They are on layer feed and there is a bowl of oyster shell in the coop. What can I do?
Thank you! I was thinking it kind of looked like a pea comb, but tsc said they thought she came out of the wyandotte bin so I was like maybe rose comb? She just does not look like a wyandotte lol
I was looking at pics of Green Queen chicks and it looked similar so maybe I do have a little olive...
I got this chick from tsc 2 weeks ago with an injured leg. Since they just gave her to me I had no clue what she was. I had been thinking sapphire gem but I noticed barring was coming in on the wings so I looked at the comb and it appears to be a rose comb? What type of chick is this?
Thank you, I was originally thinking hen because I had another in the same batch that was red at like 4 weeks and comb started getting large around 8 wks. This one possibly makes a weird crowing sound on occasion though
I have two broody hens currently. One has been broody for a month. I keep pulling her off the nest multiple times a day but she not giving up. The other has been at it for a little over a week. I think at this point I need to put them in a dog kennel with food and water. Could I put them both in...
