I agree but I’ve had chickens for a long time I’ve never seen this must variation in one single breed. That’s why my prediction was maybe barnyard crosses. Even though you would have maybe some variations lavender, splash, and “original”they are not a barring breed so my assumption would be the...
No head spots out of the three eggs two hatched blue/gray and the other one was black. The feathering on one blue/gray is coming in barred the other one black. The single black chicks feathering is coming in black with white tips
Grey chicks are starting to develop barring so I’m going to say these babies are a 100% not croads at this point but instead barnyard mixes. Thanks everyone lots of lessons learned with this hatch!
Totally agree with you! I have had some color variations before in chicks but the blue greys seem completely different from the little black chick. Maybe it is a color variation? I’ll post a picture when they at the tween stage :celebrate it’s the chicks that keep on giving! Hehehe!
Thank you so much! I think the little black chick is a croad because it does have some yellowing compared to the black Cooper maran. The blue gray chicks look nothing like the blue croads or splash or any of the marans! They must be a cross between a French maran and a croad??? :idunno
I would be she hasn’t responded to me since I told her my eggs were lost so I don’t think she will respond to me now. I’m starting to think I got maran crosses when she advertised for croads. :idunno These are some pretty expensive marans :lau
I did she posted a large black chicken with a green sheen. Also had feathered feet. She has since taken down the post (it was a chicken rare chicken group on Facebook) she has since not posted anymore of this breed and posted marans. I guess I should of done some homework before I purchased them.
That was my thoughts too! Two seem to be a grayish blue color and one seems to be a black/ grayish color. I’m not sure extactly what they are now because the croad chicks I seen on google don’t look like them :( but that’s okay.
Thank you! I was pretty surprised that the remaining three hatched!! I will post a picture tomorrow but two are blue and one is black? I’ve never had croads before but they sure do look like some marans
Here’s some updating pictures for day 7 canceling. Three I had to throw away (no life, or died early) and I have 3 still in the incubator. :fl I’m still hopeful that I may get something out of this batch!
Oops sorry I thought you replied to the picture of all the eggs not the candling pictures lmao!! Yeah I’m worried about that one too. They all have weird things going on so I’m hoping at least a couple hatch then I’ll be happy!
This is the color of the Croad Langshans eggs. I left the one with no development in just to see if it has any growth for tomorrow (day 7) if it doesn’t I’ll be pulling it along with any quitters that I might have (since some have weird air sacs not sure what it will do to development)
I’ll post...
