Thank you for all of your ideas and help. We lost both birds, but so far the other two are doing well.
We had a chicken funeral yesterday and I hope we can fing some birds to replace the ones we lost or our last two will not survive the winter.....
Thank you for your advice! The chickens do have lots of water and shade..... I phoned about 15 vets this morning and finally found one that knew a little about chickens. I got some anibiotics and had to inject them into my chickens!- that was crazy!!! Our beautiful Wyndotte dominant female has...
We just moved into a new house- we have no fence or grass- just dirt. The pen is 10x5 and we only have 4 ladies. We used to let them out (last week at our last house), but cannot here so they have been a bit cooped up (no pun intended...).
So we have them in their pen on dirt and they have...
I noticed a couple of days ago that one of my ladies was hissing and sounded like an old man trying to catch his breath (we just moved and with 4 kids 6 and under I could not get out there any earlieR- now I feel terrible!!). Today another is sick and they are both sitting on the ground with...

after about a week of trying to breed the hens' heads, he figured out the right end. haha.
That is hilarious!! I bet you had a fun time giggling at that!! He is gorgeous!
I just introduced two barred rocks (they had been laying at their 'old' home) to my two wyandottes (who have never layed...) about 6 days ago and they are stressed (the wyandottes have been a bit mean, but I have just put the dominant hen into a cage as was recommended in another thread and I am...
I read a thread that said eggs do not last as long if you wash them. Why? I can only imagine that you should wash them before you eat them- right? How do you wash them?
I am hoping my hens will lay soon and I will have to start worring about this
