It’s a pretty pattern and I am just curious as to what it is called. She is 3rd generation Silkie x Millie Fleur . Her chicks that she just hatched is the 4th.
My first rooster just died this morning. He was two years old and for the past month or so he hasn’t been able to crow. I thought it was odd but he seemed to be healthy. When went to feed him this morning he ate some and then staggered around. He tried with his whole body to crow but and then...
They are crossed with duccle. I was originally going to try to shoot for Millie fleur silkie crosses but I just don’t have the room to keep it up and I don’t eat them. I might have been getting close but probably at least another couple of generations . This is a the third silkie x duccle...
Anyone want silkie mix chickens? I have 5 from March hatch (3roos +2 girls) and 6 from a unplanned hatch (I was out of town) in June . I think 2boys and 4 girls but not sure. They are all silkie x duccle . My normal source that takes extra chickens and sells them isn’t taking chickens right...
Oh yeah did I mention he’s supposed to be a bantam? I’m not sure how big Orps are but he is giant next to my silkie. I might have to put him and his girls in their own coop because I have duccle , and two tiny hens that he is trying to mate with. He is bigger than my EE and I thought she was a...
Yes he is a Chocolate Silver Birchen. The girls are nice too but he is more flashy. They are all friendly even though I was gone all summer. They remember me from growing up in my bathroom I guess.
I need to get better pictures but I’m really pleased how my Orpingtons came out. I ended up out of my 6 with 3boys and 3 girls. I kept 3girls and a boy .
Here is the boy . The cage in the background is a growout pen for my silkie crosses.
It can’t sit up on its own because it’s leg doesn’t work right. It wants to go backwards. It drank when I offered water and it’s being propped up in a cup .
I checked on momma hen sitting on her eggs and one of her eggs were half hatched. The baby was shrinked wrapped and so I helped it out, then stuck it in the incubator in a bowl because it’s insides were almost closed but not all the way.
Checking on it later showed that he still has a...
I know I need to get rid of chicks. I’m trying to decide who to keep and if I want another rooster and if so which one. I have 5 silkie cross chicks in my bathroom that are 5 weeks . Ugh I wished I could keep them all. I really like these Orpingtons. They are all friendly. For some reason all my...
Here it is again but compared to pullets. The two pullets are in the front and unknown in the back.
It’s comb is bigger which makes me think it’s a boy but it’s so small.
We are going on 8 weeks now. I’m pretty sure with all my others which who is what but this one has me stumped. It’s the smallest of all my orpingtons . It has a comb and it’s red but it’s not as big as my other boys . All my Orpingtons have pink in their combs even the girls but their combs are...
Mom is either ..
Or
The Dad’s sire is this hatchery silkie below. Every cross with either the white or black silkie hen above with my blue silkie below has been either blue or black.
The Sires mom is this little hen.
So the Dad has a blue silkie sire and dam a Mille Fleur Duccle. Mom’s are either white silkie or splash silkie.
Here is the sire.
So did these patterns come from the Dad and what is it called?
My Easter Egg chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old. They are all silkie duccle crosses. Dad is a Silkie x Duccle and moms are silkies.
#1 I’m pretty sure this is a cockerel.
#2 I think Pullet
#3 I think pullet
#4 I’m not for sure on this one ..maybe pullet. It’s neck is going to be gold.
#5...
Here is my silkie crosses from my Easter egg hatch. Dad is Silkie/duccle and mom is silkie on all three of these.
I have another one not pictured that is solid blue looking silkie but has a straight comb so I know it’s also a cross .
Almost 4 weeks .
Yes that’s the one that was born with her foot up over behind her head. I did a total assist on her (hopefully) hatch. It was touch and go but that one is my fav. because it likes to hang out. Very friendly. I’m sure that almost loosing her made me a little more attached too. I tried...
The first picture has the large cockerel and the one Im not sure about. The 2nd photo is same one that I’m not sure about .
The 3rd picture with twister toes is a different one (hopefully pullet). The last is another different one that I’m not sure about.
