My hen is often making a noise? I'd like to know if it's normal....

I think she's a leghorn. Ever since I got her she makes this sound. She does this during the daytime. She is free range. We also give her cracked corn/ bread/ oats/ cat food. Each sound is long and loud(around 1-3 seconds each) sound something like...

    Question about a comb

Well as long as the comb didn't change color or become smaller too. If it only flipped over and nothing else, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. My favorite chicken's comb flipped over but *changed color* as well...I didn't think much of it but about 3 weeks later he's dying.

Can anyone suggest tips on finding a good veterinarian for chickens?

Thanks, Speckledhen! That really helps! Yah, I'd hate to take the roo to a vet who never handled chickens before. I had posted about what was wrong with him at (I never got much help though): https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=113944

    My rooster stopped crowing?

Has this happened to anyone's roosters? I also noticed that his comb is smaller and less red. He is a free-range rooster- he stopped eating cracked corn and other grains, but he will eat only bread and crackers (wet) very whole-heartedly. I've also noticed that he doesn't move around as much as...

Winter is almost here, should I be concerned about my flock?

Well actually, these chickens are quite safe from predators. Anyhow, being free range they have the option of choosing different locations in which they can avoid rain and wind. However, even though they love going up their tree at night despite any rain or cold winds which may come, I'm...

Winter is almost here, should I be concerned about my flock?

I live in Miami, Florida. It'll be the first winter that I have chickens. They are 3 free-range chickens, and thus far they've been sleeping up in a tree. Do you think they'll be OK in the Miami winter? Should I be giving them something special to eat? One is a gamebird bantam rooster, the hen...

My bantam gamebird rooster's top comb appears to have changed color

It was larger and redder, now it looks shriveled and browner? Is there something wrong with him???? I'm in Miami, Florida, and he is a free-range rooster. Ever since the cold front came into Florida, I think he's been moving around less....I haven't seen a change in his appetite....What do you...

My hen's feathers are falling out around her head?

What problem do you think she has? It's not dramatic, but it's obvious that she is missing feathers around her head, and upper neck......I have 2 other chickens with her in their flock, and they don't have this. What do you think?
