I have a ringneck pheasant rooster in the same pen as my hens. Recently, he has started mating with the hens. I want to try to hatch some of the eggs to see what happens but have to idea where to begin. Do I incubate them like regular chicken eggs? Will they even hatch?
Any comments or advice...
I have a buff Orp hen who's been what I thought, broody for over a week now. She does not move off of her nest. But today I decided to pick her up out of the nest and put her in the yard and I noticed that she has a big bare spot on her underside like where her stomach is. Is this normal of a...
I got some saddles for some of my girls who had some bald spots on their back.
I put four on and the girls each acted differently.
1) Completely fine. Normal
2) Traumatized. Won't move. Freezes up
3) Won't leave the roost
4) runs around the yard like a maniac.
They seem to be getting better...
If it is lice or mites wouldn't all of my hens have this issue? It's only on certain ones. I've been spraying the area with a permethrin water mix for a few weeks once a week.
and I have observed them for quite some time over the last few weeks and notice no bullying. Also they are on a 24% feed
About half of my hens have this problem with bare bottoms. It looks like it could be a big issue and with winter, cold. Any help identifying and issue or a solution is greatly appreciated.

I just ordered an Easter egger and a snowy Easter egger from MPC. When I google Easter egger images, a bunch of different colored hens come up. I have no clue what color I'm getting. If y'all could fill me in on the story behind the many diffenent colors and pictures and names that'd be...
Kathy, I read that post and want to do this spray. I got confused when you started talking about all that math. Should I just get the spray from TSC and spray my birds and the coop and run? Thanks
My girls are showing the signs of having mites. (Biting wings, feathers falling out around base of tail and vent.) I want to nip it before it gets out of hand. I plan on spraying and dusting the coop and run with sevin. How should I directly treat the girls? Thanks.
I'm thinking 3. That's my biggest problem. I know Meyer sends 3 in the spring but I can't find somone to ship in the winter. I have hatched eggs before but really don't want to do it again.
I am getting an additional coop for christmas because I am expanding my flock. I have looked absolutely everywhere to buy baby chicks and have found no one that sells or ships low numbers this time of year. Im at my wits end and was hoping someone would have some secret way of obtaining chicks...
