I also want to include a pic of one of my favorite EE girls ever. She was the mother of that first bird in my previous post (Peregrine). She was killed by a dog last year.
Xena:
I should qualify this by saying these were hatched at home from a BW Ameraucana roo and a variety of hens. They aren't hatchery stock EEs, so don't have the typical color patterns as much.
This is Peregrine (formerly Clarice, lol) saying, "Hello World!":

I am pretty sure of the parentage. That is, I trust the person I got him from. Why silver genes? There is no white or silver on him...? Is it the pattern?

After looking at pics of splash chicks, some have a yellowish tinge, with darker spots (some of my chicks look like this also), but then some do look like these more silvery (lavender-esque) ones that I have, so I guess the are probably splash?

My Barred Rock x BW Ameraucana is solid blue, so doesn't she have blue genes? And what about the Blue Sex Link x Blue Wheaten Ameraucana?
I have had some blue colored EEs before, and they were much darker. To me these chicks look just like all the pics I find of Lavender chicks.
Does this chickie appears to be Lavender color? I have two like this. What do you think? Also, can anyone tell me how one would go about breeding Lavender plumage (on purpose, lol)?
My Lav looking chicks are from a Splash Ameraucana roo and hen possibilities are:
Barred Rock x BW Ameraucana...
Thanks Ridgerunner. Looking at the chart, it does look like maybe Delaware or RIR would be my best bets. Or I could cross him back to a Welsummer, because it looks like they actually lay pretty well. I think I'll try all three, and see what happens. Now to get my hands on some...
I'll also be...
My idea is that I would like to preserve the dark egg color as much as possible, while increasing production in the offspring. What type of hen is an excellent layer, but tends toward a darker brown egg color? I have a RSL that's lays an almost terracotta colored egg, but then I've seen other...

Cute.
My rooster is Black Copper Marans x Welsummer, so I call him my Maransummer, though maybe Wellarans sounds cuter.
Welsumarans.
Ooo, that's a good one!

So sorry to hear that. Do you mean the one that pipped is dead? Posting pics couldn't hurt. A lot of the more experienced hatchers may be able to identify the problem.
My lockdown was yesterday, and mine are on the early side! Had two pips yesterday morning, and those two hatched last night. As of now, 4 chicks and a few more pipped.
Because of so much varying advice, I actually don't bother monitoring the humidity. I provide some humidity for the first 18 days, then a lot for the last three days. Not very scientific, but stops me from obsessing...
As for the egg that wasn't turning right, just put it back in and don't...
