I hatched these cuties in my hovabator for my fifth graders ( remotely if course!). I'm hoping to add some girls to my own flock. . They hatched May 20th, so they are almost a month old..I know it's early.. but I'm anxious!! What do you think? I'll post what I think too!
I have one buff...
Other than the "lump" on her "cheek" this hamburg hen is eating/laying fine. She isn't raspy or having difficulty breathing and there aren't any other symptoms. Should I be worried?? Should I be treating her with something? If I should be treating her, what should I treat her with?? Thanks...
What is the best way to treat them?I don't see mites at all...just the almost clear little, what I am assuming are lice? I'm only seeing them on a few ( like 4 out of my 36 hens) -- Should I treat everyone preventatively?? I've read a lot about DE too..is that the best route to go?? What...
Just wondering if anyone had a picture of a "rotten egg"....We had a broody hen setting and one hatched -- adorable btw !!-- but she's still setting on one more egg -- when I hold it to the light (it's a brown egg...) it's hard to tell if the "dark" I'm seeing is development OR if it's a time...
Just wanting some quick advice...really didn't think we'd get this far :O)!! We've got a Cornish who's been sitting for well, 20+ days ! I went out tonight to clean out the coop (home to 25 hens and 1 Roo) and hear peeping!!!! I was shocked to say the least -- I checked under the hen and sure...
What do I do??? We've never had a broody hen-- I'm assuming ours is, she won't leave the nest box and "growls" every time we come near her in the coop. Problem is, it's winter here-- it even snowed yesterday . I'd love her to be able to be a momma, it's just bad timing.. should we just leave...

Okay..this was our mystery chick from Mcmurray this past March. It's now 5mths old and NOT crowing --the other two that turned out to be roos are already crowing (and gone ) So, I'm pretty sure this is a hen (very LARGE hen) -- BUT can't find out what kind it is?? It is the same size as our...
Okay..just got 6 new Americauna/Easter Eggers--LOVE them to bits--they are beautiful , but one is having a little difficulty in walking---doesn't quiet look like it's legs are straight--but not sure if it's the stress of the "transfer" (just got them a few hours ago) -- or if it might have...

Okay, I'm a push-over when it comes to my kids---My son and I were at TSC and he found a little RIR that was limping around...He was crying and the gentleman working there gave it to him to doctor...what's one more when you've got 30?? right???.Well, I'm hoping we aren't in over our heads. It's...
Any suggestions? We feed them the regular DuMor layer feed (TSC) and I throw out some vege's now and then--they love a good cabbage -- They aren't moulting--both look good and are active etc...We got a few eggs from them--like 2-3 or so a week--not sure if it was one or both trading off--but...
