    Naked Butts...

They've been missing butt feathers for months now. I'm pretty sure I've got a feather eater on my hands, but I haven't found the culprit. I've put pinless peepers on who I thought was doing the plucking and supplemented their food with protein. It's not working... I suppose they are bound to...

Pinless peepers, Bumper bits and chicken diapers?!

I've heard it all now. I've been looking for ways to prevent my black australorp from attacking and ostracizing my sweet plymouth rock. I've run across all of the above listed items in my search. Pinless peepers for plucking prevention. Bumper bits for pecking prevention and diapers for...

    Do I seperate her?

My Black Australorp is picking on my Plymouth Rock. I caught her on top of her pecking at her head! I am distraught. The PR's comb does look smaller than it use to or maybe it stopped growing? Do I separate them? Who do I separate? Will it end? What do I do? I feel so bad for her. The...

Why is my RIR plucking her feathers?

She's 23 weeks old and plucking the feather out on her back. I've read that it could be lack of protein, but I'm using Ranch Pro 15% Egg Ration Crumbles isn't that is good enough? She's not molting. She's got plenty of room - I've only got 5 chickens and lots of space. There are no mites or...

Why do my chickens jump on me?

Every time I enter the coop here they come.....I bend down to give them a treat and by the time I have the chance to stand up, I look like the bird lady from the movie, Home Alone, Lost in NY. They are on my arms, legs, head and shoulders. Seriously.

    Constipated chicken

What in the world should I do for poor Ginger? She shakes and shakes her little tail feathers and strains to get her poop out. ALL of the other chickens are fine. I've been giving her warm baths and that has helped (she likes it and falls asleep). After her bath, she poops a lot and I put...

Strange 4 week old chick symptom, HELP! (picture)

My Rhode Island Red (Ginger) is 4 weeks old today. She's still in her box with 4 other breeds of chickens. I usually let them out to run around once a day (just in the garage, too cold outside), but today Ginger sat down and started kind of ruffling her feathers and scooting forward. This is...
