yesterday I noticed that my little Golden campine EE mix was laying out in the run while everyone else was eating...so I tried to pick her up. She ran away from me , but not before taking about 10 steps, staggering and falling back to kinda sit on her haunches.......she isn't sitting the way...
I have a roo with a nasty eye infection. I noticed a couple of days ago it was swollen, but I thought it was something that would pass, like a bee sting or something. Yesterday it was hugely swollen, with a little drainage and he was keeping his mouth open. I put him in the hospital cage with...
Ok, so we had to postpone our get-together, so now lets shoot for the 12th. We can still have it at my house, and I would say around 12 or 1, that way Joyeaux can make the drive if she wants.
Everybody invite someone else, so we can a HUGE group and have more fun!
Hey guys, it's been a couple of months since we had any discussion about a get together.....anyone interested?
I am willing to host again unless someone else wants to throw their hats in the ring. I'll also have to pool put up tomorrow, so we;ll be able to cool off as necessary.
Want to try to...
My runs are turning into swimming pools.....I have a 20 X25 run that is dirt and we have put down sand in the past, but with our drought ended my run stays muddy all the time. And it stinks..........
I just got over my back being out, so I can now shovel sand and/or dirt, but which is the best...
I am up for hosting one, if anyone is interested.....Maybe June or July?
I suppose I'll see if anyone is interested and go from there.
I live in Denham Springs, and I have almost an acre to run around on, and lots of parking.
Let me know if anyone wants to join me!
I'm not sure if it's the left overs from an egg hatching in the turner a couple of weeks ago (which we moved to a new bator, and LG, that I really dislike) and we left the other eggs in to continue. I thought maybe an egg was bad, I took each one out to sniff them, but they all stink! (I think...
I had to buy a bator last month when my broody abandoned her egg, and in my haste, I got a Hovabator. Well it woks fine, best I can tell anyway, but my friend gave me a turner. Only problem is, it's an LG turner. It sits down in the bator, everything looks good, but the motor assembly sticks up...
Last week I had a broody sitting on some eggs, and she broke one. So, I took the remaining egg from her and bought an incubator. We weren't sure what day we were on exactly, but I was hoping for the best........I candled last night and could only see a very dark something filling up the...
I have 1 BR and 1 BO who are both full grown and were laying ok-ish, but then I got 10 white leghorns and they blew the brown egg layers outta the water because the brown girls started to only give me 1 egg every 3 or so days between the 2 of them.
Well 2 things happened recently that have me...
This has been a week to remember.
Last night I got home to find 2 of my 3 week old meat boys OUTSIDE of their brooder box, they finally were able to fly out, so I proceed to clean it out, get an accurate had count, and clip 134 pairs of wings.
Today I'm cruising around in here when my mom says...
My white leghorn has been sitting on eggs for a couple of weeks. Actually from the first day I gave them to her it's been 23 days, but she wasn't sitting on them at night at first.
I left them in a laying box until 2 nights ago. I figured if she was getting close to hatching, I wanted her in a...
I got my 200 comets from MT Healthy today! Thank you so much fro the tip--er, coercion--no, I mean, enabling--PC and PP. If you lived closer I would chicken poop bomb your house! JK
They are so cute, I actually got 204 and one was not doing well. I have to go check on him, but I'm pretty sure...
For the past couple of weeks every time I went to collect eggs, I had a couple of my Leghorns who seemed to like to hang out in the nestboxes. Every time I would reach in they would run off cackling to beat the band.......BUT, today I was out checking the boxes, and cleaning them out and one...
Hey y'all,
I'm new here!
Today I went to collect afternoon eggs and I had a large soft shelled egg.....It was pretty disconcerting to pick up this thing that is squishy instead of hard!
What would cause this? Is it because one of my girls laid it too soon? Or could it be a stress/diet issue...
