    Beak Peeled Off

We adopted a 2 year old hen today from a neighbor today. She was the sole survivor of a nasty racoon attack. She has some broken feathers on her back. She likely survived because she was broody. We have 7 hens, and we hope to intergrate her into our flock. In the meantime she has her own space...

Hen stopped laying...acting tired and won't eat much

My 3 year old Australorpe Miss Marple, began laying in late Feb early March. 5-4 weeks back we realized that she isn't crouching anymore, and have since never seen her lay. Seems like she didn't lay for very long, maybe a week or two. She doesn't seem as interested in our feed as usual, and I...

    Liquid Foods for Sick Pullets...

I've got two sick 4 month-ish pullets inside. I suspect cocci. They are on Corid and I've been watering down medicated feed. But I am looking for something with high nutrition that is basically liquid, as they aren't eating at all. Any suggestions? I was thinking purred boiled egg or yogurt...

Too much yogurt? Impacted crop? Please help!

My just over a year old Australorp may have an impacted/sour crop. She was acting fine and dandy this morning. She was running and scratching around with her usual intensity. I took a small bowl of plain yogurt outside, as I do very often, and let them at it (I only have two hens right now). I...
