    ID for Duckling

Can anyone help identify this duckling? Looked brown but looks more olive/green now. Black beak, black feet. I’m thinking Cayuga, but wanted some input. This is a TSC special we got the other day for my stepdaughter for Easter :)

    Weird Silkie Laying Problem

My silkie hen has just laid her first clutch. She went broody for a few days, then she was off for a few days. She broody, then off. Well the eggs are obviously not alive anymore... And she continues to lay right on top of them! There's like 10 eggs (or more) and she very sporadically sits on...

    WTB Serama 6+ eggs

Looking to buy some serama eggs anywhere from 6-12+. Just PM me! I'd like pics of the flock if possible!

Can you tell if this serama is male or female?

I know the photo isn't great; the bird is always moving and the photo was taken with an iPhone!

When Can I Move Silkies Outside?

My silkies are about 6 weeks old, and their feathers are coming in nicely. At what age should I move them outside to the shed I've set up as a coop? I live in Maryland, and it sometimes gets cold, but typically our lows are in the 30s. Also, since I'm moving them to a shed while it's still cold...

Pygmy Goats & Electric Fencing... the source of my frustration!

Does anyone successfully use electric fencing for containing pygmy (or pygmyish goats under 100lbs.)? What methods do you use to keep the goats in? I have some simple posts about 48" high, three strands of wire spaced equally, and they can get through it. I'm thinking of getting some new posts...

    Sexing Silkie Chicks

I have some rapidly-growing silkie chicks that are about four weeks old. Does anyone have any tips on sexing these chicks? I can find a bunch of difficult methods for sexing day old chicks, however, I think it should probably be easier at four weeks of age.

electric fence does not hold goats HELP

My goats seem unaffected by my fence. It shocks me pretty good, but they march right through. I have the cheap$20 controller from tractor supply. Should I replace the controller

    Another electric fence question....

Sorry to bug... but as long as I'm fixing things I might as well make sure this is right... How far should posts be placed apart? I'm getting conflicting information. I have spaced them 15' apart, and they are the very thin composite rods from Tractor Supply you buy in packs of 20. Any...

A fwe problems with my chicks...

Any experience with these problems? I have ten silkies in the brooder and two have these problems: One silkie arrived with a what appears to be a leg injury. It hops around on one foot and keeps it hiked up all the time. The few times I've seen him attempt to bear weight on it he stumbles. Any...

Not-so-good Hatch, but I DO have a new serama!

I had six silkie eggs and two serama eggs. Results: three infertile silkie eggs, two early quitters, one quitter at about day 19, one day 18 quitter on the serama eggs, and one beautiful, healthy serama chicks!

    Low voltage on electric fence...

My poor goats have been penned up since yesterday because I can't seem to get my electric fence working functionally. The shock is very, very weak. Even when I touch the hot terminal, the jolt isn't enough to really deter me or any of my goats. However, I made the horrible mistake of touching...

What goat was I tricked into getting?

My wife really wanted some pygmy goats. I looked them up, thought it would be fine if she had a few, and began looking for some. Someone claimed to have two pygmy goats, so I picked them for her. I also picked up another goat from a different place. Problem is... well those first two goats are...

    Coop Interiors

I'm finishing off an old shed to use as a chicken coop while my silkies are growing every day in the brooder. I'd like to see some pictures of the interiors of some of your coops. It's easy to find lots of exterior pictures, but I'd like to get some new ideas for the interior. Maybe some space...

What kind of chick is this?

There were 6 of these chicks included in my order from Ideal Poultry for warmth in my silkie order but I have no clue what they are (and they can't tell me) They are larger than my silkies, are black, and have white on their bellies and heads. Unlike my silkies, they do not have feathered feet...

Correct Bator Temps and Humidity: My First Eggs Coming Soon!

I have a homemade incubator and I have a quick question. My incubator is really confusing. I made a makeshift "wiggler" out of a water-filled, folded in half, ziploc baggie. I also have one of those AccuRite indoor/outdoor thermometers set up so it tells me the air temperature in the incubator...

    Ordering Hatching Eggs

I'm going to be ordering my first set of hatching eggs (ever) to put in my homemade incubator. I'm a little concerned though... if I order them to be shipped this time of year, will they still hatch? How can the shipper ensure that the hatching eggs arrive to me still "alive"? They are being...
