I have had two different hatches the last two weekends Both hatches from the same flock(s) Delawares and split Sussix's. #1 hatch I hatched in my stryofoam bators with still air in lock down. #2 was hatched in a sportsman bator by a friend. I can't believe the differance in the...
Anybody have any ideas on keeping starlings out of my chicken house. I open the pop door to let the chickens out to free range and the starlings go in and make a big mess. I am at a loss what to do. I want my chickens to free range but don't want the birds in there for the threat of sickness and...
Last Friday I hatched out some chicks that are sex link with a Buckeye rooster and White rock hen. Shoud be interesting how they grow. Has anybody done this before. How did they turn out.
I should be getting some eggs next week. Should I put them in the hot garage or in the A/C house. I have a 1588 bator if that makes a difference Thanks Scott
This morning I was sitting watching my flock of chickens which is normal for me to do. I happened to look over the fence at my neighbors yard. They have a dog kennel close to my fence. I saw a black bird land on the dog food dish and pick up a piece of dog food. He then hopped over to the water...
I put eggs in the bator yesterday. This is my third hatch this year. It really brothers me that when they start hatching, the chicks that get out first start moving the other eggs. Does this hurt anything. If it does what can I do aout it.
The other day I posted sores on feet. I had three answers and they said bumble feet. Today I don't think it is because of the following reasons. The sores are on the top of the feet and I had a chick that had a sore on its comb. The sores are scabbed over not pussey. I talked to a breeder and...
A couple of days ago I noticed one of my chicks some what listless with a brown spot on its foot. Today I caught it and discovered that it has scabbed over sores on its feet. A couple of them the size of a dimeAny idea what this might be.
I have a flock of 20 hens. It seems that every once in a while one starts to sneezing and coughing and then another one will get it. Somtimes they act listless and sometimes not. Sometimes they appear to get over it but it takes a while. My question is should I get rid of all of them and start...
I've had pasty butt in shipped chicks before and have taken care of it with no trouble but I think this is different. Last Friday I hatched 8 JG's and 6 Delaware's. The Dels came from Texas via E-Bay. Ever since the Dels hatched they have had trouble going to the bathroom and the droppings stick...
I moved my eggs last night from digital 1588 to a wafer bator(had it set for several days at 100) Day 21 is thru. When I got up this morning it was a 104 in it. I'm trying to get it ajusted down. Did I cook the eggs. I have more eggs in the digital so I can't move them back. Thanks
My feed store ran out of scratch so I bought a couple of bird seed bags with sunflower seed. Several hens got sick and one died so far. I guess I can't really pinpoint the sunflowers but is suspicous Anybody else have the same problem?
I ordered some Delaware eggs off of E-Bay to start my own flock. They hatched about 10 weeks ago. There is 5 roosters and 4 pullets. 3 of the boys are huge, square and will be ready for the table soon. The 4th rooster is a little bid smaller and the 5th rooster is smaller yet. My question is...
