Hope this is okay to post here...just looking for a home...from my CL ad...
Lonely Male Guinea Fowl - $10 (Zeeland)
Lost his friend over the winter. He's two years old. Pearl. Needs to go with other guineas. Sits and stares pitifully at his reflection in the truck bumper. Healthy...
Just throw some apple tree branches in their pen with the apples still attached!
We had a limb break, and after we pulled the big apples off, the chickens got the rest. That will keep them busy for a while!
This is one of my boys. I know he's an "Easter Egger" but was wondering what possible cross(es) he may be - he has a short tail. He is growing slower and is much bigger than my other two boys. Don't know when he'll finish growing (he's a April baby). Do you think his tail will stay shorter...
I posted a while ago about a local breeder whom I got three polish and two cochins from; the three polish all died pretty quickly. I email her and hinted about a refund or credit, no response (one died in two days). Now one of my cochins, all feathered out about 6 weeks, is fading. I am not...
Don't know what mix he is, but this pic almost shows his iridescence! He's always checking out what I do and comes running when I call looking for treats. And he lets me pet him after the obligatory peck!
Time of the year you would take on new chicks, knowing that I live in Michigan and we are already having 50 degree nights and I don't want them in the house all winter :) Just curious.
Okay, when it rains, it - well, Chicken Maths :). My neighbor with chickens (free ranging) was given a few barred rock roosters. One promptly ran over to my flock. The neighbor said to keep it if it ended up with me (and I do have someone to take roosters as I seen to have too many) but....I'm...
Okay, I can tell what the sexes are of all my chicks (now 14 weeks) except this one. I think male, but then it doesn't have wattles, or any different feathers from my EE hens. It's an EE mix, and also has feathers on the legs. Thanks!!!
Meaning...some of my boys are horny little buggers and now some of my hens won't come out into the run to avoid them. Is this like teenage boys...will they settle down after a bit, or do I need to consider rehoming them? Luckily I was given a year old hen who doesn't mind them so much and I've...
Hello! When I first posted her younger pic, I was told this is a hen, just double-checking :) Likes to hang out with the roos and not her original flock-mates, but she may be getting mature, too. Thanks!!!
So, a few weeks ago, a 4-H type breeder posted she was hatching cochin eggs and would be selling the chicks. I went and looked at the adults, they are nice and healthy. I waited and bought two of her chicks, and she also had just taken in at the time a bunch of silver polish chicks from her...
Six weeks old. Guesses as to sex, breed cross? All seem to carry their tails upright like hens except one red who doesn't have a tail yet. All feathered the same time. Barnyard crosses; I do suspect one of the roosters had lacing gene as several of mine have lacing. The one black has...
I posted on another spot, thought I'd post here. Which breeds have slate grey legs? This cross has them...it's also got very pretty feather pattern :) Thanks!
This is one of my mixes - while I wanted all girls, I kinda hope this one is a rooster - would love to cross him with my EE that has the same pattern only buff and white. The silver one also has slate grey legs. Just had to post to a group who would get "it".
The one on the right (and the one...
Sorry for the slight fuzzy...they wanted to get out for the day! They are about 12 (the white & the buff) weeks, the rest I think 13 or 14 weeks old. EE's. Thanks!!
!
And I thought "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" was the most asked question. Just two weeks old, did the feather sexing, tried for hens (we'll see) and this one has quite the ripple going on suddenly. They are all mixes...I think this one an EE mix, has ear muffs. I have also EE hens...
