Well I have been busy hatching chickens Quail and even have turkeys in the incubator. I currently have about 40 quail hatching and watched one hatch that does not have any eyes. There are depressions where they should be but no slits, no dark spots under the skin. the chick also has a beak...
Looking for a Faverolles Rooster in the SW Missouri / NE Arkansas region. Looking for a good quality Rooster that is ready to breed or close to it. Might be interested in a couple pullets/hens as well. PM me with price and nearest town. Pics would be great if available but not necessary
My boys and I built a makeshift brooder in the coop today and moved the chicks out of the living room. They sure do like the extra space. The other chickens are not so sure about the whole setup and are very skittish of the chicks. Hopefully over the next several weeks they will start to get...

I am in the process of building an incubator from a small fridge. I am using the bottom section as an incubator with articulating trays and the upper freezer section for hatching. This should allow me to run three different sets at a time. I have digital controllers for both sections and did a...
Back in April I came across a great deal at the local feed store on some Cornish X chicks, I had read up on them and these were already feathered and half off so they could unload them quick. I am new to chickens this year but was optimistic that I could raise some with low mortality so I bought...
This is my first year raising chickens and I have an ongoing project with the coop. I started with scrap lumber and pallets. I framed the floor using 2x8 stringers between the pallets
Then I sheeted it and moved it to its permanent location on a hillside with large posts and footings...
