So after losing my entire flock, and waiting a few months, I decided I couldn't wait any longer. There was no way I could go an extra month without them, the fair threw me overboard. I talked to a nice man at the fair after figuring out that I wanted HIS birds, which were buff rock bantams. The...
After having lost my last stock, we did a ton of sanitizing, working on rebuilding the coop and all, and are getting new birds this weekend if schedules match, which at this point they do. He thinks they are 2 hens, 1 pullet. The roo he has won reserve single combed clean leg at the county show...
So after some reviewing of our coop and such, we've decided to try and build 2x3.5x2 breeder pens. Thinking of stacked 2 cages high, allowing 6 cages and storage in our coop. I just don't know how much PVC can handle. It's protected from sun and such.
I know how I build regular coops but I talked to people tonight at fair and many said their show adults don't touch the ground and I can't picture those coops. thanks
No picture, but it's fair condition. Chainlink No hardware that joins the 4 panels together, but you can buy them or use zipties/wire like we did. It held our layers for a long time, but I don't need anymore. Must pick up. Email [email protected]
Since I don't have the joy of posting pictures of my girls, I figured I'd post the view out my window
Willow has grown up She's now 8 months, almost 9. She misses the girls and often sleeps in the coop
britches for females? Willow should be coming in season in the next month or so and no store around here carries her size for under $40. I didn't know if anyone here either had a pattern or could make them. She's about 50 pounds now, but I would have to measure her waist. Let me know if you make...
I am doing a tractor kind of like a playhouse coop. It's 5x3 and the coop is 2x3. It's just for two bantam girls. I will have their feeder and waterer hanging below the coop, and inside there is only a roost and nestbox. I was looking today and was thinking if I should do a internal or external...
I am starting it today. I only had enough funds to get about half the frame wood. I got 10 2x2s when I need 18. We used 2x2s instead of 2x4s so it's lighter. Although mom suggested 1x2s, I figure those were too thin to support a coop. I needed a coop for my two cochins, they are bantams and I...
Ah, the joy of having a dog that knows sit, down, stay, and paw. Now we are moving on to the funner tricks! Willow is 8 months old and I've been post poning teaching play dead, roll over, and beg until she developed more attention and less ADD. She is easily distracted, but we can actually do...
$5 Each. Pullets, 2 Cinnamon Queens, 1 Barred Rock. We are downsizing to just my two cochin girls, so these need a new home. From a hatchery, and the person I got them from said they were vaccinated for mareks. I have checked for mites and they are good to go. Not the friendliest birds, I keep...
You know some people on here has redneck coops, reduce, reuse, recycle type. (My personal favorite )
Then there are the okay, not top notch, but decent materials
Then theres the voila BAM coops. You know the ones. If the only way to describe it is "When can I move in"
Well, what makes those...
Pictures from today:) I love these two girls. They are super sweet. Speck looks evil, always has, but she's a true softy. They are now little single ladies since their man passed away. They get a little extra loving, and of course free ranging
Dot
Speck
Them both
I don't want the actual magazines, just the covers I haven't been able to find a magazine stash about chickens. I'm wanting to frame the covers for wall art. Yes, random, but I love randomness. Does anyone know where I can find them?
After debating with myself I have decided to downsize to just our hens. I have two silkie cockerels, two silkie pullets, and a black sexlink cockerel. They were born around March. I'm asking 25 for all. There is a buff pair, and a blue cockerel with black pullet. They are not laying yet. We are...
We are thinking of doing a tractor since the chicken yard is void of crickets, but the rest of the yard is crawling with them. It's just for two mottled cochin bantam hens, so not a lot of space needed. I was thinking of the catawba ark designs, but didn't know what designs people liked...
