    Lethargic hen

Yesterday I noticed one of my GSL hens was acting very lethargic. She hung out by the water fountain and drank constantly. Her comb is bright red and I noticed her legs are very red. She doesn't appear to have leg mites. When I picked her up some liquid ran out of her mouth and her poo looks...

     Purina Coupons

How do you get them to print? I've received two emails in the past few months and I can't get them to print. I've even installed a coupon printer that works with other coupons but not with yours. Thank you!

    Pink capped poo

This morning while sifting the poop out of the PDZ on their poop board I found a couple poops that the white is light pink instead of white. I've not seen this before. All chickens are eating and drinking well. The chickens that were molting are now getting all their new feathers, some are...

    Oxine in Chicken Fountain

Has anyone used Oxine in their Chicken Fountain either to clean it or on a regular basis? I've noticed mine has a light brown ring of something on the inside.

    Rattlesnake, not one but two

My pop door didn't open as soon as it should have this morning so I went through the gate in and out to hit the button for it to open and then back to the house to get my cup of coffee. We always sit outside in the morning watching the chickens while having coffee. They all came running to...

Half a chick and still alive

This little chick was hatched last weekend. I really thought it wouldn't make it but it's going strong. It walks like it's on stilts and the other chicks don't seem to pick on it. The rooster is a BO and the hen an EE. You can see the puffy feathers on it's face. If you can tell by the wing...

    Hawk attack

I heard a strange sound coming from the backyard and when I went outside I noticed all the chickens were in the coop and the rooster was alarming, then I saw it, one of my EE's had jumped over fence in the backyard and the hawk was sitting on her pecking away at her back. I ran as fast as I...

is Flubenvet the same as Safeguard...egg withdrawal ?

I read that the ingredients of Safeguard are the same as Flubenvet. I can't find Flubenvet anywhere and wanted to use it due to no egg withdrawal. If Safeguard is the same as Flubenvet why the egg withdrawal for Safeguard? I'm so confused!!

best pooper scooper I've found yet for PDZ on poop board

Bought this at Wal-Mart for $5. I bend the turned down wires on the sides to flat. It's the best pooper scooper I've found using PDZ. I've bought and made several homemade ones and they got the big stuff but too much small stuff fell through. You can use the wire on the bottom on the back to...

Has anyone used Wendlands Poultry lay pellets?

The nearest feed store to me carries Wendlands. I bought their scratch today but haven't tried their laying pellets/crumbles. The cost per 50 lb. bag is $13.99. I've been paying more and driving further for what I'm using now. JUPE LAYER CRUMBLES 20% GUARANTEED ANALYSIS Crude Protein...

Why is this hen doing this?

I found my EE doing this on several occasions. At night I've seen her standing on the poop board with her head under another hen that's standing on the roost board. She's very timid but this is crazy. Sometimes she's so far under him her head is under his neck feathers. This never leads to...

Mother hen and chicks turned on one baby chick

Walking by the coop (a new coop they had all to themselves) where the hen and her babies were I heard lots of cheeping. The mother hen and some of the chicks had picked another baby chick's back raw and bloody. They have lots of room all by themselves, plenty of food and water. This chick has...

    Sick GSL hen, need advice

Yesterday morning when feeding the chickens I noticed one GSL hen just stood with her eyes closed and didn't want to move. I picked her up and she didn't even resist. Her vent had some pale white stuff but her feathers were pretty much clean. Anyway, I brought her into the house and put her...

Rooster won't let some hens eat

For some reason my BA rooster has started chasing away some of my hens from eating when I pour out their feed in the morning and afternoon. He seems to only chase away the EE's. My EE's are very shy so I put some food in another place for them but the other hens come running and scare them...

Concerned chickens aren't getting enough water due to new waterer

My 23, 13 week old chickens would drink about two gallon of water a day with the red bottom white top fill waterer. Since I've read about the new nipple ones I bought a vertical nipple and then the horizontal nipple waterer. First about the vertical waterer, I noticed that my chickens get...

    Chickens eating feathers

Is it normal for chickens to eat small feathers? I've seen mine eat feathers several times now and it just about gags me. It looks like they would be so dry. It's not the big long feathers but still it's a feather.
