Hi,
I could really use some advice/direction. I have no idea what is going on here. My flock is in my yard during the day, in the coop at night.
Two chickens have died today - both went into seizures and convulsions and dropped. No warning signs for the one that just did - the first one...
They are in a little temp run in the pic. They mostly are just running around the yard, but I stick them in when we're busy or not home until I get the big run finished. Anyhow...... notice the neck on the silkie. Someone was chowing DOWN
I had to take this little one out of it's shell because the membrane had completely dried up since it pipped and didn't go very far. The chick is doing wonderfully, but the curled toes had hung around. So, I made wee little boots out of band aids, as I'd read on here.
Does it look right????
I wonder what got people into doing what they do... and how they discovered that they were really talented at something! I've dabbled in a little of this and a little of that, but I'm just not particularly GOOD enough at anything. Did you spend a lot of time learning something you wanted to...
So have have a leftover box of Fiber One Cereal. I'm going to toss it but then I thought about the chicks.
Could I smoosh it and give it to them? It's:
Corn Bran
Whole Grain Wheat
Wheat Bran
Corn Starch
Guar Gum
Color
Cellulose Gum
Salt
Baking Soda
Corn Oil
Aspartame
Vitamin E
Any thoughts?

I just went and picked up 4 silkies and an OEG. I live in upstate NY and we're still getting frost warnings, etc (just had one last night!). The man I got the silkies from already had them outside and they are about 3/4 weeks old.... no heat lamps, brooder open to the elements on two sides...
Hi folks!
I have this chick who happens to be named BC (or, buttcheek, per my 5 year old daughter). Anyhoo... BC is definitely the oddball. When I first got BC home a couple of weeks ago his/her eye was half open/half shut. Over the last couple of weeks, it's gone from completely closed to...
Hi,
I have some chicks now, two of the breeds that I desired - but REally had hoped for a couple of silkies also. I found a wonderful trio of 1 year old silkies, but I fear that there would be complications regarding age difference.
If anyone has some nearby, I'd love to buy them! I have...
