Hi Everyone,
I have done everything I can to grow grass and other green edibles in my chicken yard. Unfortunately, there are non-edible (or at least undesirable) weeds that are overtaking the grass.
Does anyone know if there is a weed killer that is selective for broadleaf weeds but safe for...
Hi Everyone,
If a goose (or any domestic female bird) has trouble with soft-shell or no-shell eggs getting stuck, how likely is it to happen again? How likely is it to result in their death?
I have a 6-year-old pet goose who spends a lot of time inside and who is part of the family. This year her egg-laying has been problematic.
I will describe her behavior and symptoms and maybe someone can tell me what might be going on and if there is anything that can help her.
Up until this...
My pet goose is 5 years old. She spends about half her time outside rambling around our yard and half the time inside with us. In the past couple days She has been doing this weird thing where she stands with her head drooping (like when she is drowsy) and her beak does a rapid chattering...
Hi Everyone,
This is my third year with chickens. I have 8 hens and a roo. They have been good layers but in August they all just stopped.
Any ideas about what's going on? Possible solutions? Is this the end of their laying?
My goose injured her foot/leg today It is swollen and the skin is abraded and she won't put any weight on it. When I say abraded I mean the cartilage is visible at the joint.
I soaked it in salt water, poured betadine on it and put some antiseptic ointment on it. She is in the house under...

A while back I asked if grapes (with seeds) were safe for my chickens and got responses saying that the grapes were fine but the seeds could cause problems. So no grapes.

I have a mash of grape skins and seeds left over from making grape juice. Is this safe to give to my chickens?
And while we're on the subject, are there foods or food by-products that are definitely bad for chickens and should not be given?
My young hens are about 20 -22 weeks old and appear to be on the verge of laying their first eggs. In fact some have already laid eggs in other places in the yard. I want them to be able to free range in the yard but how do I get them to lay eggs in the nest boxes only? Do I have to keep them...
This is my first year raising chickens.
This spring I got a batch of four, day old chicks. They are now between 17 and 20 weeks (no one is laying yet). Then I have another batch of five. These guys are now 10 weeks old. They all run around the yard but the two groups stay apart, most of the...
I have a 5 day old Salmon Faverolle male who appears to have a prolapsed vent. I am doing everything I can to get him through (hemorrhoid ointment, witch hazel, anti-bacterial ointment, Blu-Kote and separation from other chicks that pick at him).
He is eating, drinking and pooping and seems to...
