Will feathers always grow back? Some of our hens suffered feather loss on their lower back, I think from overzealous roosters. We separated the hens from the roosters a few weeks ago and all the hens but one have new feathers coming in. Will hers ever return?
I thought that chickens were supposed to dislike snow! My chickens don't seem to even notice the snow...even when its snowing. They just act like its the middle of summer, I had to keep going and (in my mind) rescuing them today because it was snowing and they were just hanging out getting...
For chicks that are between 2-3 months old, how big should the pieces of treats be that you give them? I'm thinking along the lines of mostly things from the garden...green beans, spinach, sweet peas, zuchinni, pears...etc
My cockerels in the flock have each been figuring out how to crow lately, then this morning...at 5:30 they decided to have a crow off, lol. My little Orpington totally won, for being such a small guy he sure has a big crow! He had to have crowed around thirty times before deciding he had done...

I got Pumpkin Pie as a mystery chick. The farmer who I bought him (?) from thought the chick might be a buff orpington but wasn't sure. Just curious what you all think.
Thanks!
I've heard nice things about Cuckoo Marans, Dominiques, and Barred Plymouth Rocks and am curious how people who want a barred or cuckoo pattern choose between them? Any ideas on great qualities...or some not so great ones...that each breed has?
At the moment I have thirteen 9-10 week old chicks, but I have too many that I think are cockerels, so that number will probably be changing soon! I am not too disappointed with all the cockerels though as I got straight run chicks from a nearby farm and picked them out myself, lol. We have a...
