we are having to get rid of our chickens... we can no longer afford to feed us and them.
two female leghorns
one banny rooster
the rest of the them we don't really know what they are - they laid well until it got so cold.
we have two that have gone rouge right now - (flew out of the chicken...
i'm feeding up for my husband (he had surgery last week) until his weight restrictions are lifted - yesterday i found a snake in our feed barn. i don't know what kind it was, it moved and i went out of the barn. we keep all the feed in bins (think rubbermaid bins) so that aniamls can't get in...
i'm wasn't sure where to put this - so i'm trying here. please move if needed..
my husband is having back surgery in august and i'll be staying with him in the hospital until he's discharged. we don't have anyone near by who can feed up for us while we're out of town. we have 1 pheasent...
we treated our ducks to goldfish last night and it was the funniest thing i've seen in a while. we put them in the pool after we changed the water. one of the pekins sounded like a typewriter trying to get him one.
has anyone else done this?
in the attached pic - what breed is the brown/blue duck? the blue feathers are between the two white bands on the wing, i couldn't get it to show up in the picture. they were sold as mallards but from what i've seen (in the pen and on the net) they aren't.
when can we expect duck eggs? we got our ducklings the week before easter and they appear to be full size. the mallards (were supposed to be mallards but i don't think they are) are all the same sex (males i think) but the two whites i think are one each.
i know with mallards its ovious ( we have one who is already getting its white ring around the neck) but with the white, how do you tell? i read it on here somewhere but now can't find it.

is there anything i can do about coyotes? my husband saw one last night and shot at it but didn't hit it. i think there are some more out tonight b/c of how the dogs are barking (they can see both coops from their dog yard).
anything we can do about them?
i know de will help with the hill thats come up (i'm still waiting on mine to arrive) will fire ants hurt my husbands birds in the mean time or will they eat them like they do regular ants?
if we need to move where they free range i will - just wanted to check before we put them out today
we got a pheasant when we got the chickens - they have all been couped together. neither of us really want to keep 'ol pheas. my husband is willing to part with him for 30.00 or best offer
we are in north carolina. pm me if interested.
we got 6 ducklings at tsc about a month ago (right at easter) and had been keeping them in a rabbit hutch. they are big enough now that we want to move them into their own pen. i'm concerned about them flying off if we don't completely enclose the pen. also are there any treats we can feed...
