    Silkie chicks, bearded or non?

Hi there. A friend got my daughter silkie chicks for her birthday, 2022 4-H projects. Just curious if any are bearded, I'm only finding image searches of grown birds. We've had them since Saturday, and I can't get over how quiet they are... I've lost track of the amount of chicks I've hatched...

Good morning. I got 7 bantam cochin chicks last week. I know 1 will be black, 1 blue and 2 buffs.... the black and one buff ones are frizzles. These 3 she said might be a mille fluer pattern. What are your guesses?

These are my 2 eleven week old Ee's I'm pretty sure they are both cockerels, but hubby thinks the blacker one may be female. Guesses?

    Two broodies one pen

Hi there. We had 2 broody hens, one buff and one lavender orpington, that I had to move because they were making it impossible to collect eggs. I moved them to a small penned off portion of my chick stall with their own boxes while I figured out what to do with them. They were each given 6 eggs...

    Delaware genders 8 weeks

Hi there. I have 3 Delawares that are about 8 weeks. I'm pretty sure the first is a roo, the second a pullet, and the third has me confused. It's comb is smaller and paler than the roo, but it has a very smutty back, which from what I read is more common in a roo. Any guesses are greatly...

Barred rock hen sex link question

Hi there. We are currently hatching a handful of eggs from our laying hens. I had 2 hatch that are black, so I am guessing they were from our barred rock hen. We have an Easter Egger roo who is the father of all of the chicks. Because he is not a pure Ameracauna, will the combination make a sex...

    What breed is this?

So we got some chicks a few weeks back. We thought they were Delawares, but the hatchery goofed and sent us white leghorns.one of the birds isn't as white as the others and it looks like it has cream colored feathers coming in. Could it just be a non pure one?

    Speckled sussex genders

Hi all. My little speckleds are just over 3 weeks old. I know it's very early to tell, but I think the big one may be a rooster, which is okay. He is almost twice the size of the other two, and stands tall like an ostrich. The first pic is the one in question, but they are all so cute.

    Delaware or White leghorn

Hi there. I had posted recently about getting 3 Delaware chicks, supposed to be pullets. They are about 3 weeks and are completely white. They are atarting to get feathers and still no black. The place I got them had white leghorn available at the same time. I've been trying to search images...

    Delaware chicks

Hi there. I had ordered 3 Delaware pullets from a nearby hatchery/farm. They we're roughly a week old. This is my first time with this breed, and had a few questions. Is it normal they are usually all yellow with no black when they are this little, and do their combs tend to be noticeable right...

    My Easter eggers

These are the "ameracaunas" (i know they aren't true) we got from TSC this spring. They are almost 20 weeks old. I am pretty sure they are all pullets, but because their combs are all different and their tales point different I wanted an extra opinion. They are camera shy, so this is one of...

    Hello from RI

Hello. I am new to the site. I started off my flock in 4/2013 with 4 golden comets and 2 ameracaunas. I am currently at 20 birds, including a week old chick my buffy hatched. We also have 4 goats, 3 are Nigerian dwarfs and the other is an oberhasli. We hatched 7 babies from our hens back in...

    Am I in denial?

We hatched some of our hens eggs back in April. These guys are 15 or so weeks old. The rooster is an ameracauna, the 2 lighter birds are crossed with buff orpingtons and the darker one a golden comet. The gc cross lost some feathers when I had to clean the caked on poo off its bum when it was a...

My broody buff and her clutch

Hi all. First time posting. I have a year old buffy that went broody, so we let her sit. I marked the eggs, and unfortunately within a few more days a few were added. I had 3 hatch last Friday and unfortunately only 1 made it. On Monday I water candled the eggs that were left and one of the...
